Yazim Oukhellou's fake pregnancy ad sparked backlash
Yazim Oukhellou teased what initially seemed to be a pregnancy announcement in a video shared on social media. She wore a white fitted dress for the occasion and showed off her baby bump. The reality TV star also told her followers that she had been keeping it a secret while she worked on something special for a long time.
She then asked them if they were ready to meet her "new arrival." However, just when fans were convinced about her pregnancy, she revealed a new bottle of perfume named Amara. Yazmin introduced it as her "new baby." But the clip, which was created to build excitement around her latest business venture, did not go down well with many viewers.
Several followers called out the video. They mentioned that using pregnancy as a marketing gimmick may upset people who are dealing with fertility struggles, miscarriage, or the loss of a child. Some also described it as "insensitive" and "bloody weird." Others asked why she decided to use a fake baby announcement to promote a fragrance.
After the backlash, Yazmin shared an apology on her Instagram Stories. She explained that the ad was just meant to symbolize creating something special and bringing a new product into the world. In her words:
"I never imagined it would mislead anyone or make light of pregnancy, miscarriage or fertility struggles. I'm truly sorry. The post has now been removed."
