Will 'Wanda' Appear In 'Avengers Doomsday'? MCU Fans Confused After Her Absence In The Trailer
The trailer for 'Avengers: Doomsday' did not feature most of the characters, including 'Wanda Maximoff.' The character made its MCU debut in 2014.

The journey that started in 2008 with Jon Favreau's Iron Man gave birth to a franchise that also included The Avengers, bringing all the superheroes together to fight against one enemy. After a wait of seven years, Avengers: Doomsday is arriving on December 18, 2026.
While the presence of Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth as 'Steve Rogers' and 'Thor' has made fans excited to book their tickets, the absence of some iconic characters has also raised a lot of questions. One of them is 'Wanda Maximoff.'
'Wanda Maximoff’s' appearance in Avengers: Doomsday is not confirmed yet
'Wanda Maximoff,' portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen, has turned into one of the MCU’s heaviest hitters, both in power and in emotional depth. After anchoring multiple Avengers stories, it makes sense that fans are asking if she’s coming back for Avengers: Doomsday.
The main clue that hinted she might not return is that she was not on the official cast list Marvel put out. But Marvel skipping a name doesn’t mean much. The studio loves hiding big returns. Time and again, actors have popped up unannounced and completely blindsided the audience. That’s part of their strategy where they keep the surprises secret so the theater moment lands harder.
There’s also her last story to consider. 'Wanda’s' most recent appearance was in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which was released in 2022. Consumed by grief, she chased a version of her family in another reality and leaned on the Darkhold to get there. It ended with her seeing what that path cost her. She took out every Darkhold across realities and buried herself under Mount Wundagore.
The film framed it like a sacrifice, but never said that she is dead in plain terms. With no body shown, that door stayed cracked open. And given how central the multiverse is now, a lot of people assume a character that strong isn’t gone for good. As of now, though, Marvel hasn’t confirmed Olsen for Doomsday. Elizabeth even addressed it herself at Chicago’s C2E2 and said:
“I know nothing. I know about Vision Quest, because I’ve seen Paul in the last six months. I know nothing about any of it. Is Secret Wars what happens after? I'm not kidding. Why did I think there were two Secret Wars? Are there not?”
There have been reports about her possible appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars, which is releasing in 2027, or in Young Avengers. But Marvel Studios has not confirmed anything yet.
A separate report hinted at 'Wanda Maximoff’s' return in a different form
While people have to wait to see if 'Wanda Maximoff' is returning in Avengers: Doomsday, a report in May 2026 claimed that Marvel Studios might go ahead with the appearance of 'Scarlet Witch.' But the biggest difference here is that Elizabeth Olsen won’t be cast for the character.
Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus claimed that Marvel Studios reportedly opted for stunt doubles with masked costumes to hide the identities of the unannounced characters linked to the followers of 'Doctor Doom.' Alex also said that although people will get to see 'Scarlet Witch' in Doomsday, there is a possibility that the role might not be played by Elizabeth Olsen.
'Wanda Maximoff' was first introduced in the mid-credits scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014. She started playing one of the leads in Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015, followed by Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. A separate show focusing on her character along with 'Vision' was released on Disney+ in 2021, titled WandaVision.
