Tell Me Lies Season 3 finale premiered on Hulu on February 16, 2026 (ET). The series has become a fan favourite since its release. However, as Season 3 comes to an end, fans are curious whether the makers will bring the show back for another season. The showrunner, Meaghan Oppenheimer, has now shared major details about the show's future and the season finale in a candid conversation with Deadline.
On February 16, 2026 (ET), Meaghan Oppenheimer announced on Instagram that Season 3 would be the final instalment. In the show, 'Lucy' and 'Stephen' are an on-off couple. Their relationship is filled with dark secrets and manipulation. However, as they try to figure their lives and their relationship out, their friends, 'Bree' (Cat Missal), 'Pippa' (Sonia Mena), 'Diana' (Alicia Crowder), 'Wrigley' (Spencer House) and 'Evan' (Branden Cook) find themselves caught in the crossfire. Nonetheless, they are also dealing with their own chaotic and often messy relationships. The news came as a shock to fans, who had been eagerly waiting to dive deeper into the franchise. In a heartfelt post, Tell Me Lies showrunner was quoted as saying:
"This was always the ending that my writing team and I had in mind, and we are insanely proud of it. Your incredible response to this season inspired us to explore whether there was another organic way to continue the story, but ultimately, we felt it had reached its natural conclusion. My main goal has always been to protect the quality of the show and give you the best experience I can give you."

Meaghan also discussed her decision to end the show after three seasons in a conversation with Deadline. Before Meaghan, Van Patten also spoke with the media outlet and said it was a bittersweet moment for them. Van called the team lucky that everyone loved the show and that they got to be part of it. On the other hand, when Meghan was asked whether she always planned to end Tell Me Lies after three seasons, she answered affirmatively, saying that, for her, three seasons felt like the perfect amount.

In the same conversation, when Meaghan was asked whether she wanted to continue the show, the showrunner said she did. However, she also had several conversations with her writers, and it just didn't make sense to keep the story going. The showrunner explained that the lead, 'Lucy' was no longer going to be in school anymore, and most of the cast will be graduating from college in the future, which would mean all of them are in different places in their lives, making a connection even harder to form between them. She added:
"For me, it was just about do I think there’s another season in here that’s going to be as good, that’s not going to feel like a completely different show? And I felt like it would have to be completely re-imagined. The framing device is over. So yeah, while it’s difficult, I think the worst-case scenario would be turning in something I didn’t believe in. And also just knowing how much the cast loved this ending, and they were the people who’d been embodying these characters for so long. That gave me a lot of peace about it."

In the same conversation, Meaghan also talked about how the finale came at a massive cost for 'Lucy'. She revealed that she always knew the character would have consequences, as they mentioned in the very first episode. She recalled how people were constantly telling 'Lucy', "You’re doing a lot better now." You see that she's taking pills.

In the same conversation, the interviewer further asked Meaghan about her plans for the future. They asked her about whether she was going to bring Second Wife to the screens next. For the unversed, Second Wife stars Meaghan's husband, Tom Ellis, who also played 'Oliver' in Tell Me Lies. In Second Wife, he will be seen playing a divorced dad named 'Jacob'. However, when asked if it was next, Meaghan revealed that it was not.

Meaghan shared that Second Wife will not be her next project. However, she was working on something. She revealed that she cannot share details of the project, but she has signed her 20th Television deal, which will centre on adult siblings and their lives. Meaghan explained that after the drama of Tell Me Lies, she really wanted to do something that is more appropriate for families to watch together. She was quoted as saying:
"I have my overall deal with 20th Television, so I’m developing a new thing with them, and it’s definitely about dark, twisted relationships, but it’s a little bit more revolving around adult siblings and their lives and their kind of interconnectedness. I really want to do a family drama that feels as edgy and twisted and addictive as Tell Me Lies. I have a lot of experience with dysfunctional families. So yeah, that’s the world."
