Did Akshaye Khanna Make A Special Cameo In 'Border 2' After The Success Of 'Dhurandhar'? Find Out

Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh and starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan and more is currently winning hearts for its powerful narrative. However, what has grabbed attention is the cameo of Akshaye Khanna and Suniel Shetty at the end of the film. While a few viewers were impressed with it, others wondered if the makers tried to use Akshaye Khanna's Dhurandhar's success to market Border 2. Well, producer, Bhushan Kumar, recently opened up about the same.

Was Akshaye Khanne a part of Border 2 only because of Dhurandhar?

Recently, the producer of Border 2, Bhushan Kumar opened up about the fan theories, which claim that the makers of the war drama added a cameo of Akshaye Khanna only after the success of Dhurandhar. However, Bhushan Kumar shut down rumours and shared that the cameo was already planned before the release of Dhurandhar. As quoted by Mid-Day, Bhushan Kumar shared:

"You can’t make a film like that. It was already scripted. In fact, we shot his portion after Dhurandhar released. The hysteria of the film and Akshaye was already there but we never thought of (profiting from) it. It was never required in the script. It’s not like we added him after Dhurandhar released. We shot his part on December 10-11. Akshaye is in Border 2 as a tribute to Border. He was a part of the story from the very beginning. And those who stay back after the film ends will get the golden nugget."

He further shared that a similar situation happened with Suniel Shetty. Bhushan Kumar also spoke about the last scene of Border 2 and urged the viewers to watch it. He stated that the last scene, featuring cameos of Akshaye Khanna, Suniel Shetty and more is very emotional. He also mentioned that it is a tribute to the original film. In his words:

"The same can be said for Suniel Shetty. It’s not like we decided to bring them in and seeded them in the script later. They were always supposed to be a part of Border 2 as cameo appearances. I would like to urge everyone to not miss the end credits of the film. That scene featuring the cameos is very emotional."

Bhushan Kumar opens up on the grand opening of Border 2

For those who do not know, Border 2 had a strong opening. The film was released on January 23, 2026, and it earned around Rs. 30 crore on day one. Recently, producer of Border 2, Bhushan Kumar shared that Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan starrer is the first film after Chhaava to earn so much. He was quoted as saying:

"I think the last film to open to such big numbers was Chhaava that released last year. I don’t remember anything else. This film is growing because of positive word-of-mouth. A good film usually grows by 10-15% on day two but we could anticipate a 30-40% jump on Saturday. I know this film will have a long run, maybe up to two months. We were very confident about the film. It’s nice to hear from people that we’ve lived up to Border, a film that JP sir created."
