After the final batch of 4 episodes dropped on Netflix on February 26, 2026, viewers barely got time to get over the 'Benedict' and 'Sophie Baek's' Cinderella-inspired love story before the speculations about Bridgerton Season 5 took over the internet. When will Bridgerton Season 5 release? 

Although Netflix has officially confirmed that there will be Bridgerton Season 5 and 6, there is no announcement about the official release date for the new season. However, the production for the show is reportedly set to begin in March 2026 in the UK. Based on the show's typical filming and post-production schedule and industry estimates, Bridgerton Season 5 might drop around late 2027 or early 2028.

The show's executive producer, Shonda Rhimes, confirmed that their writers began work on the new season's script in late 2025 to map out the details and plotline. At the same time, the showrunner, Jess Brownell, has also expressed interest in decreasing the gap between seasons. In turn, his statement has increased the hopes of fans who cannot wait long to watch the new season, as they did for the previous two seasons. 

Which 'Bridgerton' sibling will lead Bridgerton Season 5?

Jess previously teased that Season 5 and Season 6 would focus on the 'Bridgerton' sisters, 'Eloise' and 'Francesca'. But he was careful not to reveal the order, keeping the details about Season 5's lead under wraps. If we follow the order of Julia Quinn's novels, Season 5 will be based on To Sir Phillip, With Love, which is about 'Eloise Bridgerton', and will likely bring 'Sir Phillip Crane' into a larger role. 

On the other hand, 'Francesca's storyline, inspired by When He Was Wicked, will focus on the tragic loss of 'John Stirling' and her budding bond with 'Michaela Stirling'. Although 'Francesca's grief is still fresh at the end of Season 4, it has made many fans speculate that Season 5 may focus on whether 'Eloise' will step into the spotlight first. Although the finale initially appeared to end without a wedding, viewers who stayed till the credits rolled were rewarded with 'Benedict' and 'Sophie's outdoor ceremony at My Cottage. When 'Benedict' stood at the aisle with his brother, 'Anthony', who told him he was proud of him for following his heart, 'Sophie' walked down the aisle surrounded by family and friends. 

While fans finally got their fairy-tale conclusion, the makers teased audiences where 'Kate Bridgerton' asks, "Whose wedding do you think we will be attending next?" It immediately draws attention to both 'Eloise' and 'Francesca'. Notably, the former surprises everyone by admitting she loves weddings, in contrast to her earlier resistance to marriage. Whereas 'Francesca', who is still mourning 'John Stirling', says that she already had her great love, reflecting her emotional inability to form a new relationship.
