Who Is Scott Morfee? Inside Kelly Curtis' Marriage As Jamie Lee Curtis' Sister Dies At 69

Jamie Lee Curtis is famously protective of her privacy despite her fame. But recently she shared a deeply personal part of her life, as she announced her sister, Kelly Curtis' death. In turn, many Hollywood stars and fans rushed to share their condolences. Although Kelly was best known as the daughter of Hollywood legend Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, or as the sister of Jame Lee Curtis, she had a successful career herself. While people are curious about her life, let us learn more about the man in her life: her husband, Scott Morfee. 

Who is Scott Morfee?

Scott Morfee is a well-known personality in the theater world. He is an award-winning producer and director who spent decades helping shape New York's Broadway scene. According to some alleged Industry records, Scott is the co-founder of the historic Barrow Street Theatre in Greenwich Village. It is a well-known hub for innovative and independent productions. At the same time, Scott is known for supporting bold theatrical projects and budding creative talent financially. All these efforts earned him the 2025 Legend of Off-Broadway Award. 

Before stepping into the theatre Industry, Scott reportedly worked in corporate marketing. In fact, he even spent quite some time working on an Ohio River barge before realizing his passion for the arts. Kelly Curtis and Scott Morfee had a long-lasting marriage for more than three decades. Some reports say they met through their mutual love of theater in the late 1980s. Soon, they began working professionally and developed a personal bond as well. In fact, Kelly reportedly appeared in and helped to produce multiple projects connected to Scott's work. 

Eventually, they got married on September 14, 1989. Still, they largely kept their relationship out of public view. According to reports, they used to spend nearly the same amount of time in New York City and at their home in Montauk, New York. In fact, their relationship was known to be grounded and respectful until Kelly's death. 

What caused Kelly Curtis' death?

Jame Lee Curtis announced the death of her sister, Kelly Curtis, through a heartfelt social media tribute. She did not reveal the exact medical cause of her death. But Oscar-Winning simply mentioned that her sister passed away peacefully at home. Jamie described Kelly as her first friend, lifelong confidant, and a woman whose beauty left a lasting impression on everyone around her. In her words:

"A warm aloha to my older sister, Kelly Lee Curtis. She passed away this morning. In her home. In nature. At peace. She was jaw-droppingly beautiful and a talented actress. She played a mean game of hearts, collected turtles, loved her family, nature, music, thrifting, travel, Facebook, and Pokémon Go. She was proud of her Danish roots and Hungarian Jewish ancestry and was a l devoted American patriot."

More about Kelly Curtis 

Kelly Curtis spent most of her life balancing Hollywood roots and her independent creative path. She was born in one of the most famous families of the entertainment industry. In fact, she was the eldest daughter of actors, Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh. She completed her education in business and worked as a stockbroker.

But eventually, she moved into the arts and studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. Kelly shared the screen with her sister, Jamie Lee Curtis, in the 1983 film, Trading Places. She was also seen in series like The Equalizer, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Judging Amy, and The Sentinel. However, Kelly later shifted to working behind the camera.
