The couple crossed paths on the set of Stalin. It was Pradeep Rawat who fell in love with Kalyani at first glance. However, Kalyani didn’t pay any attention to him back then. In an interview, Pradeep shared that Kalyani appeared quite strict. However, it was destiny that brought them closer. One day, Kalyani’s car broke down, and his manager came and asked him whether they could send an actor with him. Hesitantly, Pradeep agreed, and it was none other than Kalyani. On their way back to their homes, they exchanged numbers. After a few months of dating, the duo tied the knot in 2006.
Pradeep Rawat passes away after battling with cancer
Actor Yashpal Sharma was the first to confirm Pradeep Rawat’s death. The veteran actor has died at the age of 74 after a long battle with cancer. Confirming his death, Pradeep’s manager, Siddharth Tiwari, shared with ETimes that at 6-6:30 p.m. on August 4, 2026, the veteran actor took his last breath. Siddharth mentioned that the legendary actor survived cancer four years back, but it had relapsed again over the last one and a half months. In his words:
"He passed away today, August 4, somewhere between 6 and 6:30 p.m. He survived cancer four years back, but again, since the last one and a half months, it was a relapse of cancer. So, he was hospitalised for one month. That's how it is. All of a sudden, his platelets went down, and from there, he just couldn't recover."
Pradeep’s funeral will be held on August 5, 2026, in the evening, and his mortal remains will be kept at his home in Goregaon, Mumbai. Soon after the news of Pradeep’s demise surfaced, netizens paid their heartfelt tribute to the veteran actor. A user on Reddit wrote, "Om shanti. I will remember him most for playing Ashwatthama in BR Chopra Mahabharat." Another user commented, "RIP, my favourite role of his was Ashwatthama in Mahabharat and Sultan in Sarfarosh."
Aamir Khan, who appeared alongside Pradeep Rawat in a good number of films, paid his tribute. Speaking to Variety India, Aamir shared, "He was extremely dedicated and fearless as an actor. Pradeepji played the title role in 'Ghajini.' I think this was one of the most striking screen villains in our cinema. The film wouldn't have worked without him. Earlier, in 'Lagaan,' he brought his own flavour to Deva Singh Sodhi. I don't think anyone could have played Sodhi with such swag."
Actor and Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Pawan Kalyan expressed his grief over Pradeep's passing. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
"May the soul of Shri Pradeep Rawat find peace. The demise of the renowned actor Shri Pradeep Rawat is heartbreaking. I pray to God that his soul attains peace. Shri Pradeep Rawat, who acted in Hindi as well as Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada, impressed audiences with his portrayals of antagonists and diverse roles. In the films Sardar Gabbar Singh and Katamarayudu, in which I acted, he played key roles. I extend my deepest condolences to Shri Pradeep Rawat's family."
