Who Is Miranda Lambert's Husband, Brendan McLoughlin? A Former Police Officer, Co-Writer Of Her Song

Miranda Lambert is one of the most renowned American country music singer-songwriters. Her career started way back in 2001 when she released her self-titled debut album independently. While she had established a solo career, later, Miranda formed the group, Pistol Annies, alongside Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley. Some of her most notable hits over the years are Bluebird, Fastest Girl in Town, Settling Down, and It All Comes out in the Wash, to name a few.  

Recently, Miranda was featured in Ella Langley's music video for her hit single, Choosin' Texas. In addition to seeing her in the video, Miranda's fans are having the time of their lives, as the singer is officially set to kick off her 2026 world tour on April 11, 2026, in San Diego. Amid this, many have become curious to know about Miranda's personal life, especially her husband, Brendan McLoughlin.  

Brendan McLoughlin is a retired police officer  

Brendan McLoughlin is a native of Statement Island, New York. In February 2020, he retired from the New York Police Department, though it is unclear when he first joined. It is worth noting that before he stepped away from his role, the NYPD had praised his work on social media. This included the time Brendan helped apprehend a perpetrator in a bank robbery. In March 2018 post on X (formerly Twitter), they wrote: 

"This week, these fine officers showed what we do best in #Midtown. PO McLoughlin apprehended perpetrator in a bank robbery in progress & PO Donato had a pick up arrest of a truck burglary, closing out several open complaints. Job well done guys!!" 

Brendan McLoughlin has a son from a previous relationship

Before Brendan McLoughlin had met his now-wife, Miranda Lambert, he had fathered a child during a previous relationship. While talking to Extra in June 2019, Miranda opened up about her relationship with her stepson, even calling him "amazing." She said that she was living the whole phase. According to her, because she has raised "a million dogs," she feels like she has got "that part of my womanly/motherly thing" full, adding that while it is a whole new journey, it's great nonetheless.  

Miranda said that before Brendan entered into a relationship with her, he did not have any dogs or any animals at all, so when they started dating, he inherited a whole barn full of them. She jokingly added, "I was like, 'Hey, I got the dogs, you got the kid, we can mix and mingle."

According to reports, Brendan and Miranda met for the first time on the set of Good Morning America back in November 2018. Miranda revealed the same during an October 2019 interview with The New York Times. At the time, the singer was reportedly doing press with her former band, Pistol Annies, while her husband, Brendan, was on security duty for the show.

During the interview, Miranda recalled how her girlfriends, the Annies, saw him and realised that she might be ready to hang out with someone. Eventually, they invited her to Miranda's show behind her back, adding that they plucked him out for her. Apparently, after seeing Brendan, her security guard, Tom, told Miranda, “He's here. And he's pretty.” It is worth noting that later that month, when People asked Miranda if it was love at first sight with Brendan, she responded, “I guess so. If that's a thing.”  

Brendan McLoughlin and Miranda Lambert kept their marriage private for weeks 

Brendan McLoughlin and Miranda Lambert got married on January 26, 2019. However, the couple chose to keep their nuptials private for weeks. It was on the occasion of Valentine's Day, in February 2019, that the White Lie singer first announced the news on social media. Taking to her Instagram, she wrote, "In honor of Valentine’s Day I wanted to share some news. I met the love of my life. And we got hitched! My heart is full. Thank you, Brendan McLoughlin, for loving me for.... me." 

A month later, Miranda opened up about her whirlwind romance with Brendan. She said that she had been through enough in her life to know what she does not want. So when she knew what she wanted, she snatched it right up, referring to Brendan. Miranda then revealed why they chose to keep their wedding under wraps for some time. She said she wanted to keep it “private” for as long as possible because she previously had a “very public” wedding and divorce from Blake Shelton.

Well, despite initially keeping their marriage private, both Miranda and Brendan have never shied away from celebrating their anniversary each year. For instance, in January 2023, Brendan wrote on Instagram, “4 years down and a lifetime to go. Happy anniversary @mirandalambert,” followed by two red heart emojis.

A couple of months after their wedding, Miranda and Brendan made their red carpet debut at the 2019 ACM Awards in Las Vegas. Even after that, the former police officer was seen beside Miranda, supporting his wife at several events like the BMI Country Awards. In March 2021, when Miranda took home the Grammy for Best Country Album, Brendan wrote on IG that he “could not be more proud” of his wife.

With the many years that Miranda has been in the music industry, she has released dozens of songs. However, many might not be aware that her discography includes a song that she co-wrote with her husband. It was back in September 2024 that Miranda released her major label studio album, Postcards from Texas. Notably, for the album, her husband, Brendan, was listed as a special collaborator after he co-wrote her song, Dammit Randy. While talking to People, Miranda has revealed that the pair first began casually writing during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. She said: 

"We were writing songs and baking cookies and just keeping ourselves busy, but he was pretty good…I was like, 'All right. If you're going to do this, you got to turn that football game off, and we're going to do it.' He did, and he's done a couple of other co-writes with me."
