Shylynn Oubre has studied communication and business
According to reports, Kelly Oubre Jr.’s wife, Shelly Oubre, was born in August 1998. She has previously revealed that she used to move “twice every year” during her childhood. Despite moving frequently, though, Shelly did not lose contact with her Puerto Rican heritage. Regarding her education, she studied communications, business, management, and marketing at Arizona State University from 2016 to 2020.
Shylynn Oubre Jr. is the owner of a hair and beauty brand
In August 2020, Shylynn founded a hair and beauty business called SHHY Beauty. As per the business’ website, Shylynn “created this brand to share a piece of me with the world and create a community to empower individuals to be unapologetically themselves.” She added:
“The idea dates back to my childhood and growing up as the first biracial child in my family. Before having access to YouTube tutorials, social media, and ethnic hair care aisles at the grocery/convenience stores alongside moving twice every year, I struggled badly with accepting myself and finding my place and purpose in the world.”
Shylynn Oubre and Kelly Oubre Jr. got married two years after they began dating
Shylynn and Kelly met for the first time through mutual friends. After forming a bond, the duo began dating in 2020. The NBA star later admitted in an interview that “it was one of those things where we saw each other and didn't leave each other's sights again after that.” On July 9, 2022, Kelly and Shylynn tied the knot at St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort in Puerto Rico.
Kelly revealed that the reason they chose to get married on the island is that it has ties to his wife’s roots. Additionally, it was also the place where the couple was going to have their first trip together, but it got cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shylynn Oubre and Kelly Oubre Jr. share two children
On May 14, 2021, Kelly and his wife, Shylynn, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Málibu. It is worth mentioning that when they married the next year, Málibu made an entrance at their wedding in a mini pink Maybach.
Kelly and Shylynn expanded their family again when they welcomed their second child, a son, whom they lovingly named TsuSún Kelly, on May 1, 2023. Opening up about his name, Shylynn said:
"We contemplated naming him a 'third' (Kelly Oubre III) but Kelly wanted him to have an original name. We created TsuSún as a play on Kelly’s nickname Tsunami and a monsoon, maintaining a water-like theme as our daughter's name is Málibu — a city with beautiful water views on Cali’s coastline."
Kelly Oubre Jr. has reportedly signed with the Pacers
As per reports, Kelly signed a two-year, nearly USD 17 million deal with the Indiana Pacers. The news comes after he had found stability in the NBA with the 76ers, playing for them for the past three seasons. He had become a mainstay in the team’s starting lineup after changing his game from a score-first player to a 3-and-D on the wing.
Reacting to Kelly joining the Pacers, a social media user wrote, “Such a Pacers type player. Love this pickup for them.” Another wrote, “As a Pacer fan I very much approve. Oubre is such a Pacers type of player with how they run the offence. Love it.”
