Joao Fonseca and Manu Noronha's relationship reportedly started during their school years in Rio de Janeiro. According to multiple reports, they developed a close friendship before eventually dating. However, the internet speculated about their bond in 2024 after noticing Joao's regular interactions on Noronha's Instagram. However, he did not publicly acknowledge his relationship until March 2025. Later, during an interview with ESPN at the Miami Open, Joao shared that he was looking forward to spending some time with his "family and girlfriend" during a break from the tournament. 

Things became more clear in the later months of the year when Manu joined Joao at the Laver Cup Gala. It marked their first major public meeting.
