Meet Spider-Man: Brand New Day's character, 'Jean Grey'

S

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has finally hit the theatres. Now, that the film has been released, it has finally been revealed that Sadie Sink is the actress behind the character, 'Jean Grey'. The character is one of the original members of the X-Men and one of Marvel's most powerful superheroes.

'Jean Grey' made her debut in 1960 as one of the founding X-Men. She is considered an Omega-level mutant, which means her powers virtually have no limits. Her special powers include telepathy and telekinesis, the ability to move or control objects with her mind. She is closely connected with the Phoenix Force, a powerful cosmic energy that increases her powers and abilities.

However, this force can also corrupt her, turning 'Jean Grey' into the Dark Phoenix, a much darker and more destructive version of herself. The character is famous for dying and returning to life many times. Her stories often involve rebirth and the Phoenix Force bringing her back. 'Jean Grey' also has a clone named 'Madelyne Pryor', who later becomes the villain 'Goblin Queen.'

Why is the character, 'Jean Grey' so important for the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Here's what we know

It is worth mentioning that 'Jean Grey' is one of the most important members of the X-Men. Her appearance is very important because it is the first time a major X-Men character has officially appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) main timeline (Earth-616). Until now, the MCU had introduced very few mutants. 'Jean Grey's' arrival suggests that Marvel is finally beginning to bring the X-Men into the MCU.

Meet 'Jean Grey's' main love interest, 'Cyclops'

S

'Jean Grey's' main love interest throughout the X-Men franchise has been 'Cyclops'. He and 'Jean Grey' have known each other since the X-Men's early years. The duo is very close. Eventually, they got married, but their happiness was short-lived as 'Jean Grey' was killed by Xorn, a powerful mutant villain. Now, if you are wondering who 'Cyclops' is, we’ve got you covered.

'Cyclops' real name is 'Scott Summers'. He was born to 'Christopher Summers' and 'Katherine Summers'. He also has a brother named 'Alex Summers'. 'Scott's' father, 'Christopher', wanted to become an astronaut. One day, while the family was flying home from a camping trip, an alien spaceship attacked their plane. To save 'Scott' and 'Alex', 'Katherine' attached them to a parachute. She pushed them out of the plane before it crashed.

While 'Scott' and 'Alex' survived, their parents were captured by the alien Shi'ar Empire. While in captivity, 'Katherine' gave birth to another son named 'Gabriel Summers'. Later, 'Katherine' died and 'Christopher' escaped and became 'Corsair', the leader of a group of space pirates called the 'Starjammers'. A villain named 'Mister Sinister' became interested in 'Scott' because of his powerful mutant genes. 'Scott' was sent to an orphanage, where his mutant powers first appeared.

When powerful energy suddenly came out of 'Scott's' eyes, 'Mister Sinister' secretly gave him special glasses with ruby-quartz lenses to help stop the beams from escaping. Eventually, 'Scott' ran away from the orphanage and was found by 'Professor X'. He took 'Scott' to his school for mutants and made him the first member of the X-Men. His mutant power is firing powerful energy beams, called optic blasts, from his eyes.
