Once known for her social media presence and beauty business, Ellie rose to attention after she was caught smuggling 17kg of cannabis at Edinburgh Airport. As her legal proceedings continue to move ahead, several netizens have raised doubts about what might happen next.

Ellie Crampsie is a local from Broomhouse in Glasgow. She was renowned as a social media personality and entrepreneur before she was caught up in a series of legal troubles. According to local reports, Ellie built her social media following by introducing her viewers to Glasgow's nightlife and events scene. In turn, she also prompted several brands and online business ventures. Additionally, she ran a beauty business called "Brows by Ellie" that offers brow styling and cosmetic treatments.
However, following her legal troubles, the 23-year-old's social media handles, which attracted thousands of followers across Instagram and TikTok, have been made private. Despite not having millions of followers, Ellie rose to the limelight due to the scale of her alleged crime. According to authorities, she was stopped at Edinburgh Airport by Border Force officers on April 16, 2025. She had arrived from an Air France flight from Thailand via Paris when she underwent a routine check, and officials found 17 sealed packages with approximately 17.7kg of Cannabis.
For those unaware, they are classified as Class B substances in the UK with an estimated street value of 115,000 to 151,000 pounds. Therefore, Ellie was immediately arrested, and prosecutors presented her case in court.

After nearly a year, Ellie Crampsie appeared at the Edinburgh Sheriff Court on March 26, 2026, where she pleaded guilty to being connected to the supply of those substances. Prosecutor, Emma Laing presented the case in court and highlighted how the large quantity of drugs made the crime more severe. In turn, her defence lawyer argued that before the alleged incident, she had a clear record and on the basis of family support, her bail should be continued.

Meanwhile, Sheriff Graeme Watson, who has been presiding over the case, agreed to leave sentencing for later to receive a criminal justice social work report. However, he clarified that the possibility of imprisonment is open.
There has been no final judgment on the Ellie Crampsie case. But under UK law, the offence of supplying or importing class B drugs carries a maximum punishment of up to 14 years in prison. Although early guilty pleas are often given slight preference during sentencing, the sheer amount of drugs involved in the case has made it uncertain. For now, Ellie remains on bail and is awaiting her sentence hearing in the coming weeks. It will be important to see whether her co-operation is given precedence over her crime, reducing her sentence, or whether she faces a severe punishment that would further affect her budding career.
