The adrenaline had been at an all-time high during Sunday's FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final between Argentina and Switzerland. While the back-to-back World Cup winners gave tough competition, 25-year-old Swiss player Dan Ndoye proved his calibre by scoring a crucial goal against the defending champions.

During the nail-biting match at Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium, the Nottingham Forest winger found the back of the net in the 67th minute, calmly slotting the ball through Emiliano Martinez's legs after being played in by Ricardo Rodriguez to bring Switzerland level and reignite the contest.

Meet Dan Ndoye, Switzerland's star attacker

At just 25, Ndoye has rapidly established himself as one of Switzerland's most dependable attacking players. Born on October 25, 2000, in Nyon, Switzerland, he made his senior international debut in 2022 and has since become a regular fixture for the national team.

The winger had already established himself as one of Murat Yakin's biggest attacking threats before today's match. Within just a few years after getting promoted to the international level, he has scored an impressive 10 goals in 37 appearances for Switzerland. Today's new goal against Argentina has only added to his rapidly soaring reputation on the global stage.

Dan Ndoye is currently playing with the Premier League side Nottingham Forest, having previously been linked with Italian side Bologna, where he completed a reported move worth more than 40 million euros in 2025. While at the Italian club, the football star helped end Bologna's 51-year wait to lift the Coppa Italia.

Is Dan Ndoye married? What is known about his personal life?

While his fame has been soaring, Ndoye has strictly kept his personal life away from the spotlight. There are no confirmed public reports indicating anything about his relationship status, whether he is in a relationship, married, or engaged. The 25-year-old hardly ever discusses his private life.

While Ndoye remains private about his romantic life, he has spoken proudly about his family and heritage. His mother, Virginie, is Swiss, while his father, Saliou Ndoye, is Senegalese. He also has a sister, Eva, and a brother, Issa, who have frequently supported him during international tournaments.

Ndoye has often credited his close-knit family for helping him stay grounded despite his rapid rise in European football. He has also proudly spoken about another key member without whom their family is incomplete: their husky, Alpha.

Ndoye also proudly embraces his Senegalese heritage through his trademark "lion" celebration, a tribute to Senegal's national identity and the famed "Lions of Teranga" nickname of its football team.

Switzerland's impressive FIFA World Cup campaign came to an end after a 3-1 extra-time defeat to defending champions Argentina in the quarter-finals. Although the Swiss bowed out, Dan Ndoye's second-half equaliser briefly reignited their hopes before Argentina sealed victory through late goals in extra time.

The defending champions looked in control after Alexis Mac Allister's opener, but Switzerland refused to back down as Dan Ndoye fired home the equaliser to force extra time. Just when a penalty shootout seemed inevitable, Julián Álvarez and Lautaro Martínez delivered two decisive strikes to send Lionel Scaloni's men into the semifinals. Argentina will now lock horns with England in what promises to be one of the biggest blockbuster clashes of the tournament.

Ndoye's standout performance at the FIFA World Cup has further solidified his status as one of the brightest talents of Swiss football.
