He is officially set to launch an eight-month mission to the International Space Station (ISS) on July 14, 2026 from Kazakhstan. Notably, it will be the first spaceflight for the 49-year-old Indian-American emergency medicine physician and US Space Force colonel.
For the mission, Anil will be aboard Russia's Soyuz MS-29 spacecraft, which will launch from Kazakhstan's Baikonur Cosmodrome. He will be accompanied by Russian cosmonauts Pyotr Dubrov and Anna Kikina in the eight-month mission. The core aim of the mission will be to examine how microgravity impacts blood flow, vein structures, and blood composition. Anil and Anna first met during his initial tenure as a NASA flight surgeon, where she was working as a biomedical flight controller. Just three days after meeting outside of work, they found themselves "sitting side by side in a tense mission control simulation," as per Anna. While working under immense pressure, the duo found love and solace in each other. After dating for a while, they tied the knot on October 15, 2016. The couple has since welcomed two children, a son named James and a daughter named Grace. Not much is known about them, as their parents keep them out of the spotlight.

Anil Menon's wife, Anna Menon is his biggest support system while he prepares physically and mentally to take part in the eight-month-long mission. Anna is the best person for Anil to look for advice, as she belongs to the same field as him. She is an American astronaut, biomedical engineer, and Lead Space Operations Engineer at SpaceX. She and her husband, Anil, have been lovingly called a 'space power couple' because they have both worked extensively for NASA and SpaceX.
Anna Menon holds a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Spanish from Texas Christian University (TCU) and a master's degree in biomedical engineering from Duke University. Coming to her career, she is a Lead Space Operations Engineer at SpaceX. She serves as the mission director for the organisation. She is actively involved in the Polaris Dawn mission, a private, crewed spaceflight focused on testing new technologies and conducting a commercial spacewalk.
However, Anna's journey started as an enthusiastic newbie at NASA. She worked at the organisation for seven years, six of which were as the biomedical flight controller leading operations for Expedition 41, including ISS US EVAs 27 and 28. After almost a decade with NASA, Anna joined SpaceX in 2018 as a Space Operations Engineer. During her seven-year tenure there, from July 2018 to mid-2025, Anna managed several crucial missions and helped shape the company's human spaceflight program.
Anna served as a Mission Director and crew communicator for historic flights, including NASA's SpaceX Demo-2 mission. In September 2024, she made history by flying as a Mission Specialist and Medical Officer on SpaceX's Polaris Dawn mission. Exactly a year later, she left her senior engineering position at SpaceX for NASA.
As for the latest updates regarding Anna Menon, she is currently undergoing NASA's intensive two-year astronaut training at Johnson Space Centre in Houston to prepare for future Artemis missions to the Moon and Mars. Besides navigating space, Anna has also documented it in her book titled Kisses From Space.
