In Koffee with Karan Season 4, when KJo referred to Anushka Sharma as the ‘first lady of cricket’, he was damn right! Virat Kohli, after all, is not only at the top of his captaincy but even his personal life seems in a perfect space. And a recent interview just proves that!
In Gaurav Kapur’s YouTube show, Breakfast with Champions, Virat Kohli opened up about his relationship with Anushka, and how she has affected his life. It’s not that Virat hasn’t spoken about his lady-love before. Both of them have been quite vocal about their love for each other. To know more details, check their love story here.
And now, during the tete-e-tete with Gaurav Kapur, Virat spilt more beans about him and Anushka’s love life. On being asked about his change from Dilli ka ladka to a gentleman, Virat said:
“Lady luck ka kamaal hai. You have seen me, you know I had no sense before. Ever since the lady has come into my life, she’s taught me a lot of things. I’ve learnt a lot, become more sensible in the last 4 years all because of her. She’s taught me how to be more patient and taught me how to utilise the position I am in to the fullest. At that time too, I never tried to be anyone else. I never tried to tell myself that I should be reading books etc… those are gradual things. If you like it it, you like it. So, luckily I never tried to change myself. But the flip has been because of her.”
Virat then went on to talk about his overt nature of the relationship and why doesn’t he hide it like other celebs. He added:
“In England in 2014, Anushka was there in my life, she understood what I was going through so she kept me motivated. Her support helped me push through, however bad it was for me. She was a constant in that time. Then Australia happened and I ended up scoring runs, in her presence. So it was a special thing for both of us because she had also faced so much flak. We were being criticised and people were saying this is what happens when you allow girlfriends on the tour. So I said if you are not okay with it, I can’t be in a relationship? According to them, I should either get married or be single.”
And what is it that made him to be so open about his relationship? Clarifying this, Virat said:
“A very big reason behind this is Zaheer Khan. Luckily he was one of the first guys I spoke to about this and he said whatever you do don’t try to hide it because you’ll stress yourself. And on top of that, you’re in a relationship, you’re not doing anything wrong. I’m actually very grateful that my first interaction about this was with Zak. And he told me the right thing to do so I’ve followed it ever since.”

Wow! Isn’t this the most candid confession ever by any celeb? More power to celebs like Virat who don’t hide their relationship and unapologetically accepts it in public. What are your views? Do let us know in the comments section below.
