Born and raised in Delhi, Shah Rukh Khan had moved to Mumbai with a dream to rule it one day and he did become its King. Before moving to Mumbai, Shah Rukh had attended the National School of Drama and then in 1988, he had finally made his acting debut with a television show, Fauji. Since then, there has been no looking back for Shah Rukh and over the years, he had made everyone his Deewana. A year before his debut in Bollywood, Shah Rukh had married his teenage love, Gauri Chhiber and the couple had permanently moved to Mumbai, where he worked towards making a name for himself in the industry.
While Shah Rukh Khan had created a niche for himself in the entertainment industry without a Godfather having his back, he was gradually introduced to and became a part of the glamour world. But his then newly-wedded wife, Gauri Khan, who was completely unaware of the world her husband was getting into, didn’t know what was ahead of them. Just like any celebrity, Shah Rukh too, was a part of the rumours in the media, be it regarding his extra-marital affair with Priyanka Chopra and the speculations of him being gay and cheating on his wife. But Shah Rukh maintained his safe distance from such rumours, and sometimes, he did clarify his stance in the media interactions. And unlike other actors, he was never involved in any big scandal.

In a 2018 interview with GQ magazine, Shah Rukh Khan was asked if he had ever cheated on his wife, Gauri Khan. On being asked, “Unlike other actors, there have been no scandals involving you. Do you not cheat? Or do you just cover your tracks more carefully?” Shah Rukh had said, “I don't cheat. I've never had the desire to cheat anyone - financially, emotionally or romantically. It doesn't mean I'm the most morally upright person. I just think cheating is quite low. My problem is I can't say no. I am too courteous. I am unable to ward off people I don't want to be with. To form a sexual alliance for an evening, or two or five, and then try and ward it off... it'll disturb me a lot. In any case, I think my time to have affairs or to cheat is over. Because I never cheated, half the people said I'm gay. But I'm too old now. In fact, if I do cheat now, people will say: "Jhoot bol raha hai, saala." Also, when I came to Mumbai, a lot of people had notions about the film industry. It was important to tell those people that it's not true.”

Revealing he had made a promise to his wife, Gauri Khan, that she can walk into any party with him without worrying he has slept with any lady in the room, Shah Rukh Khan had continued, “So, I promised my wife: "You can walk into any party with me without having to worry that I've slept with any lady in this room. There's no girl who will come up to you and say hello, knowing me better than you know me." It's a promise I made in my heart. And yet I love a lot of the girls I work with. But physicality is not an important aspect of it. Because you know that's what gets blown out of proportion.”
When asked, “Hypothetically, you could sleep with any woman you wanted, couldn't you?” Shah Rukh Khan had retorted, “Only hypothetically, yes... [Laughs] And I'd like to keep it hypothetical, because suppose I did try, and failed, I mean, it would be such a downer. It would just shatter my image [laughs]. Let me be honest, I've never been able to walk up to a girl and talk to her. The first girl I asked for a dance was my wife. And I was so scared she'd refuse. Had she refused me, I'd still be unmarried. I can't go up to a girl, I can't flirt with a girl. I can charm a girl; I'm naturally like that. I'm a gentleman.”

Scrolling through social media a few days back, we had gotten hold of an unseen picture of Shah Rukh and Gauri from their post-wedding function. In the picture, Gauri had flaunted her newbie bride’s look in a red-coloured saree and her look was accentuated with mangalsutra and chooda. Shah Rukh had looked suave in a black tuxedo. While till now we had seen pictures of Shah Rukh and Gauri from their wedding, this one of the newly-weds was surely a feast for the eyes.
