Theirs is a relationship that begins with idolism followed by discord and eventually evolves with acceptance and legacy. More than the flesh and blood, it is the heart that makes the father-son relationship strong and special. Such is a relationship shared between actor, producer and screenwriter, Salim Khan and his actor-sons, Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan. Salim has been a father, who has supported his children in the highs and lows of their career proving to be a doting dad and has also allowed his children to bring their girlfriends home rather than roaming in the city, proving to be the coolest dad ever!
Ever since Salman Khan made his debut in the Bollywood industry, he has been linked with many divas including Sangeeta Bijlani, Aishwarya Rai, Somi Ali, Katrina Kaif and the latest being Romanian television presenter, Iulia Vantur. It has been over three decades since Salman made his debut and "When will Salman Khan get married?" is the one question that's constant in every Bhai's fan's mind. Despite his fair share of relationships, Salman, at the age of 55, is the most eligible bachelor of B-town.
The first actress in Salman Khan's life was Sangeeta Bijlani, whom he dated for a long time. Salman and Sangeeta's wedding was on the cards but the couple had parted ways. Then came Somi Ali and Aishwarya Rai, who parted ways with him because of his violent and obsessive behaviour. When it comes to love life, Salman was always surrounded by controversies. In a throwback interview with CineBlitz magazine, when Salman's father, Salim Khan was asked to comment on the actor's affair with Aishwarya Rai, he had retorted, "Leave them alone they are grown-ups. If their relationship has strength, nothing in the world can stop them. If you kill them, they will become immortal lovers."
Speaking on Salman Khan's 'not strong enough' relationships with Sangeeta Bijlani and Somi Ali, Salim Khan had continued, "If their love is not strong enough, they will fall apart. Salman's relationship with Sangeeta broke up even though it has continued for seven long years. His relationship with Somi too did not last." Back then, rumours were that Salman was violent in his relationship with Aishwarya Rai and that was the reason she left him. Reacting to this, Salim Khan had said, "Aishwarya is not with Salman Khan out of any compulsion. She is going around with him because they like each other. Would such a person put up with a bashing?"
In an interview with CineBlitz magazine, Salman Khan had spoken about his relationship with his father, Salim Khan, revealing how it has changed over the years. Salman had said, "Nothing has changed since we were kids. We didn’t get to spend much time with him because he was working at that time. As we grew older, he went through a bad phase. From being known in the industry to suddenly getting no work for a long time was a very difficult time for him and he didn’t let us feel even once that it’s been four years and he doesn’t have any film, but then he started working again. Later I started working, so that closeness has always been there and now it’s more like a chilled out relation, he is like a friend. Now we all have friends like Sajid and many more if they come home and I am not there then they sit with him talk for hours, share drinks."
Though Salman Khan has distanced himself from marriage, he had expressed his desire to become a father. When his sister, Arpita Khan Sharma had welcomed her second child, a daughter, Ayat Sharma on Salman Khan’s birthday, he had expressed his feeling about becoming mama again. During a media interaction as he had celebrated his birthday with them, Salman had remarked, "Abhi hogaya mama ka, chacha ka, bas ab baap banna baki hai."
