Former LAPD detective, Mark Fuhrman, who became a household name during the O.J. Simpson trial, has passed away at the age of 74. He was one of the most controversial figures involved in the infamous 1995 trial. Especially, Mark was the one who found a bloody glove at Simpson's Brentwood estate during the 1994 double murder investigation of the former NFL star's ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ronald Goldman.

While his testimony initially strengthened the prosecution's case, his old video became a major turning point in the trial. In turn, it not only damaged the case but also changed Mark's life forever. After the case, Mike Fuhrman left the Los Angeles Police Department in 1995 and stayed away from the spotlight. Let us know more about his life after service.

After the Simpson trial, Mark pleaded no contest to a felony perjury charge. For those unaware, he was accused of falsely denying the use of racial slurs in the past during the testimony for O.J Simpson's trial. The charges were related to the infamous "Fuhrman tapes" recordings, where he was seen using racist remarks and discussing police misconduct. In turn, California authorities officially decertified him from law enforcement, and he was not allowed to serve again as a police officer in the state. Despite this, he tried to reshape the public narrative about him through TV commentary on criminal investigations.

Mark Fuhrman's controversial role in the O.J Simpson case

Mark Fuhrman first got attention after he found a bloody glove at O.J Simpson's Brentwood estate in June 1994. It was major evidence for the prosecution to allege his role in the double murder case. But the defence team, led by Johnnie Cochran, found audio recordings that showed Mark using racial slurs. In fact, he denied using the language, but they still contradicted the trial. Meanwhile, Johnnie argued that Mark's racial bias could have influenced the investigation and his evidence. In turn, it weakened the case against O.J Simpson and ultimately led to his acquittal in 1995.
