Authorities revealed that a black 2023 Cadillac XT6 driven by a 61-year-old collided with the actress around 8 pm. Later, the responding officers who first reached the site found her with severe trauma to the head and body. Wenne was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead after a while.

According to US Weekly, the police confirmed at the scene that the driver was not injured and remained at the scene. As of December 10, 2025, no arrests had been made in the case. Yet, the investigation will be conducted under the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad. The actress's agent told The New York Times that the actress had a 'huge love for New York' and her community at JFK Airport, where she worked as a security officer.
