Julia Varvaro, a senior official of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and a former Deputy Assistant Secretary for Counterterrorism under President Donald Trump, is in the middle of a heated political scandal. The 29-year-old's actions sparked massive public reaction after she was placed on administrative leave following controversial allegations about her personal relationships, including claims tied to a 'sugar dating' lifestyle that raised security concerns.
Now, as scrutiny intensifies, new claims are linking her to a Florida hotel incident last year, involving Trump aide Paul Ingrassia, 30. Here's everything we know about the controversy and their relationship.
A new report by the Daily Mail revealed that Julia Varvaro was the "mystery woman" who shared a room with the 30-year-old attorney during a work trip in Florida last year. Paul Ingrassia, a key Trump nominee with a history of controversies, allegedly shared a hotel room with none other than Varvaro during the trip. At that time, Ingrassia's co-workers accused him of manipulation, and the situation prompted an investigation.
Sources also reportedly told the publication that Vravaro and Ingrassia shared an unusually close relationship, often spending time together at the former's apartment. The two allegedly stayed in hotels often and would meet regularly for dinners. However, both parties denied any wrongdoing at that time and stated that things were platonic between them. Ingrassia even took legal action and filed an ongoing defamation lawsuit against Politico for its news article titled "Key Trump nominee accused of sexual harassment." Both Ingrassia and Varvaro called the claims false and suggested a political motivation behind the claims.
Earlier reports claimed that Varvaro had filed a complaint against Ingrassia, alleging that he pressured her into sharing a hotel room during a work trip. An October 2025 report by Politico claimed that Varvaro was left with limited options after her room booking was allegedly cancelled, and she had to eventually share the room with the attorney.

The DHS official said she eventually agreed to stay in a separate bed in the same suite, though some sources suggest she felt uncomfortable with the situation at the time. There has been limited information about the reports of an internal complaint against the Trump aide. In a lawsuit filed in the court, a case exhibit shows a note Varvaro wrote to Ingrassia with DHS letterhead stating: "Have a great day, Big Boss Daddy!"
However, Vervaro later dropped the allegations and even denied filing any such complaint. The Daily Mail reported that the DHS officer had described Paul as a "longtime friend" and never made any misconduct report. She said that the hotel room situation was misread by the "outside party," and it created nothing but "a lot of gossip".
The renewed attention on the Florida hotel scandal comes after Vervaro was placed on administrative leave from her role at the Department of Homeland Security last week following accusations tied to a so-called 'sugar dating'. The complaint, reportedly filed by defense contractor Robert Bianchi, a former partner of the 29-year-old, alleged she received expensive gifts, travel, and financial support.

Bianchi, an IT and telecom executive based in Maryland, is said to be at least 57 years old and owns SDVO Solutions LLC, a firm that has earned over USD 67 million in federal contracts in recent years. He has often bragged about dating women in their 20s, and allegedly connected with Vervaro through a dating app.
In April 2026, Bianchi complained that he shared a 'sugar daddy-ish' relationship with the DHS official, alleging that he spent tens of thousands of dollars during the three months that they spent together. He claimed to have splurged between USD 30,000 and USD 40,000 during the relationship, spending on luxury dining, designer handbags, vacations, and Cartier jewellery.
Another ex-lover of Vervaro, who has kept himself anonymous, made a similar claim against Vervaro. The ex, reportedly a New Jersey construction executive, told the Daily Mail that he met Vervaro on Seek, a 'sugar daddy' app, in 2024, and "dated for four months while she was working as a program analyst for FEMA." Vervao, however, has strongly denied both exes' claims.

What are your thoughts on Julia Vervaro's 'sugar baby' controversy and her alleged connection with Paul Ingrassia?
