The American romantic comedy stars Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson in lead roles. Alongside Zoey and Nick, Voicemails for Isabelle also features Harry Shum Jr., Lukas Gage, and Nick Offerman. Directed by Leah McKendrick, the film follows the love story of 'Jill' (played by Zoey Deutch) and 'Wes' (played by Nick Robinson). Amid the buzz, find out whether the film is worth watching.
The story of Voicemails for Isabelle revolves around 'Jill', who is struggling with the death of her sister. To cope with her grief, 'Jill' continues to send voicemails to her sister’s old number. However, the phone number now belongs to 'Wes', a stranger. But 'Wes', instead of ignoring those voicemails, listens to them and learns a lot about 'Jill'. He then uses that information to find her. He also ensures to be part of 'Jill's' life. They meet and eventually fall in love. But 'Wes' keeps a big secret from 'Jill' that he already knew her through the voicemails.

Ever since, Voicemails for Isabelle premiered, people couldn’t stop talking about the undeniable chemistry of Zoey Deutch as 'Jill' and Nick Robinson as 'Wes'. A romcom fan wrote on X, "Voicemails for Isabella doesn’t reinvent the rom -com, but it doesn’t need to. Zoey Deutch’s charm, strong chemistry with Nick Robinson, and a sweet premise make for an easy, heartfelt watch. Sometimes that’s enough." Lauding the performance of Zoey and Nick and their chemistry, a trade enthusiast wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
"Just watched- Voicemails for Isabelle on Netflix, and it was one of the most heartfelt rom-coms I’ve seen in a long time. What starts as a unique and quirky premise slowly unfolds into a beautiful story about grief, healing, connection, and second chances. Zoey Deutch delivers a deeply emotional performance, while Nick Robinson brings warmth and sincerity that make the relationship feel genuine. The chemistry between the leads, the emotional depth, and the charming storytelling kept me invested from beginning to end. The film balances humour and heartbreak remarkably well. It’s not just a love story; it’s also a touching tribute to sibling bonds and the ways we hold on to the people we’ve lost. 5/5."

The concept of 'Jill' leaving voicemails for her sister, knowing that she was already dead, sounded a bit impractical. Critics found 'Wes' reading the deeply personal messages of 'Jill' deceitful rather than romantic. They pointed out that 'Jill' and 'Wes's' relationship is based on deceit.

Soon after Voicemails for Isabelle premiered on Netflix, romcom fans shared their reviews on X. A fan wrote, "Voicemails for Isabella We r so back! Romcoms are starting to get good again. I started watching this mindlessly and didn’t expect to love it as much as I do. The beginning was awkward, but I’m glad I kept watching because the ending was beautiful." Another fan penned, "I don’t care what people wanna say about cheesy romcom, but Voicemails for Isabelle are so damn good. I haven't cried a river for a romcom in such a long time and haven't liked a modern romcom since Set It Up, but damn, this one is good."
