Recently, the two were spotted together as they attended the Le Mans race at Silverstone, England, on September 12, 2026. The duo's joint appearance re-sparked the buzz around the nature of their relationship.
Ambika expressed concern on Trisha and Vijay's appearance
Several videos of Trisha and Vijay from the event surfaced on the internet. Amid the re-ignited buzz, veteran actress Ambika talked about the friendship between Vijay and Trisha. In an interview with RedPix, Ambika revealed that if she had such a thing, she would stay away from being part of situations that could bring criticism to a close friend in position. Ambika said:
"Recently, I gave an interview in which I spoke about Trisha. In response, someone came out in support of Trisha and asked, 'Was she the Trisha of the 1980s?' Now, I want to know two things. If I were the Trisha of the 1980s, then who was the Vijay of the 1980s? I want to know. The person should tell me that. That's one thing."
Ambika revealed that if if she had been part of such a situation, she would not indulge more into it as it could bring criticism to her or give her friend a bad name, she would avoid it at all cost. Ambika said:
"People have asked whether you are talking about dressing alike and wearing matching outfits or about travelling to London. If I were in that position, and I knew something I did could bring criticism or give my friend a bad name, I would avoid it. That is my opinion."
Ambika further expressed her thoughts on Trisha and Vijay claiming that they are just friends, saying that if they value that friendship, they should also be a little careful on how the conduclt themselves in public. She shared:
"Otherwise, people also begin to feel disappointed. They may say, 'Fine, you say that you are just friends. But do we have to keep fighting and defending you every single time?' So, if we value that friendship, we should also be a little careful about how we conduct ourselves."
For those who don't know, Trisha and Vijay were spotted at the race event as they watched the action from the stand. Trisha also leaned forward to get a better view of the track. The two were spotted donning contrasting ensembles. Vijay was dressed up in a pair of jeans and a black-hued t-shirt paired with a borwn jacket.
On the other hand, Trisha looked gorgeous in a maroon-toned faux-leather bomber jacket with dropped shoulders and side pockets. She teamed it with a simple white-hued t-shirt and high-waisted jeans.

Taking to her Instagram handle, Trisha had posted an unseen photo of Thalapathy Vijay to wish him on his 51st birthday. While her gesture was loved by many, people started claiming that they were together and had been dating for a long time. Trisha shared a photo with Vijay, who held her furbaby, and the actress was looking at him in awe. Along with it, she wrote:
"Happy Birthday bestest."
This year, their relationship came into the headlines. So far, Vijay and Trisha have chosen not to speak on the buzz. But the way Trisha tagged along with Vijay at various events left people wondering if the reports about the duo dating are actually true. The couple even visited Ajith Kumar's residence when his mother passed away. She was also present at Vijay Thalapathy's oath ceremony. During an interaction with Times Now, Trisha blushed and expressed happiness on seeing Vijay taking the oath as CM.
