After a long wait, the trailer of the much-anticipated movie, Street Fighter, was unveiled at the recent CinemaCon 2026 event. For those unaware, Street Fighter marks the Hollywood debut of actor, Vidyut Jammwal, whom you might recognise from films like Commando, Sanak, Yaara, and more. In the upcoming film, Vidyut will play the role of the yoga master, 'Dhalsim.' Now, a moment that caught our attention during the Street Fighter trailer's unveiling was when Vidyut recited the sun and moon mantras, followed by the Gayatri Mantra.
On April 17, 2026, Vidyut Jammwal took to his Instagram handle to share a video from the CinemaCon 2026 event where the Street Fighter cast unveiled its trailer. In the video, Vidyut can be seen chanting the prayers. This was the actor's way of helping protect the project and the hard work he and the rest of the cast and crew put into making this film. After the other cast members present there gave Vidyut the go-ahead, he started chanting the mantras with his eyes closed. Along with the video, the actor penned a long note, which can be read as:
"There are certain personal milestones that fill me with a profound sense of purpose—moments that ground me and remind me who I am. One such moment was when I had the honor of offering a prayer at CinemaCon in Las Vegas—one of the most noisiest and vibrant places in the world. My Indian chants brought a stillness—a wave of peace and quiet. I felt a deep, unspoken bond with everyone in the room—beyond words, beyond language, we were all connected as one. It was a tremendous privilege to be the one to share this vision of global harmony. #vedic #sun mantra, # moon mantra, #Gayatri mantra—together, they carried a silent prayer for peace beyond all borders.”

For those who haven't watched the Street Fighter trailer yet, it features high-stakes action, with Noah Centineo appearing as a reckless street fighter. Apparently, his character used to be a good friend of Andrew Koji's fighter character; however, something went wrong with them. The Street Fighter trailer drops a hint at their turbulent relationship.

Meanwhile, Vidyut Jammwal will be seen in the role of the iconic yoga master, ‘Dhalsim.’ He even got a shoutout from his fellow Bollywood actor, Tiger Shroff. Gimushung about how excited he is for Vidyut's upcoming part on Street Fighter, he tweeted, “@VidyutJammwal no better fit for this bhai..taking your skills to the next level looking forward to this one guys watch out for #streetfighter coming soon.”

Last year, in December 2025, Vidyut shared the first looks of the Street Fighter cast, which includes actors, Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, Roman Reigns, David Dastmalchian, Jason Momoa, Curtis ‘50 Cent' Jackson, Cody Rhodes, Andrew Schulz, and Eric André. According to TOI, in the caption of the collaborative post, which also shared his first look, he wrote, “In the company of warriors, I find my tribe, streetfightermovie legendary paramountpics.”

Vidyut's character is said to channel the spirit of intense, ascetic edge. Though his physique is lean, he appears battle-ready. 'Dhalsim' sports traditional monk-style body markings, a shaved head, and a trimmed beard.
The original Street Fighter video game series was launched back in 1987. It featured intense one-on-one battles between groups of martial artists. The same was orchestrated by ‘M. Bison,’ as a global fighting tournament. If a report by Hindustan Times is to be believed, the game has sold over 55 million copies worldwide since its launch.
