Vidya Balan recalls the painful rejection after she was made to feel ‘ugly’
In an interview with Galatta India, Vidya Balan said she was replaced in a Tamil film within two days. However, when she asked the producer about the reason behind it, he made a very derogatory comment about the actress. Recalling the painful memory, Vidya said:
“I did a Tamil film. I shot for it for two days, and then I got replaced. I went to my parents' office in Chennai to speak to the producer. He showed us some clips from the film and said to my parents, ‘Dekho, kisi angle se heroine dikhti hai. She doesn’t know how to act or dance.’ I was thinking, first let me act and dance; I hardly shot for the film.”

His words had such an impact that Vidya stopped looking in the mirror for six months. She was made to feel ugly, and it damaged her morale. Revealing how the comment affected her for months, Vidya said:
“For six months, I didn’t look at myself in the mirror because I felt ugly. If you want to reject someone, do that, but always be kind with your words because words can be very damaging or nurturing.
