Vidya Balan Breaks The Silence On Her Dramatic Weight Loss: 'I Haven't Worked Out All Year'

Vidya Balan, the powerhouse of Bollywood, is making a triumphant return with the highly anticipated sequel, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. After a three-year hiatus, the actress is back and better than ever, captivating audiences with her stunning transformation. Renowned for her iconic portrayal of 'Avni' or 'Manjulika' in the original Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Vidya has always been a symbol of body positivity. However, her recent weight loss journey has sparked significant interest. Recently, the actress opened up about her experience and how she embraced her body, regardless of its size.

Vidya Balan shared her lifelong struggle with weight management

Vidya Balan recently spilt the tea on her weight loss journey in an interview with Galatta India. Like most of us, she used to be all about hitting the gym, but it just wasn't cutting it. That's when she connected with Amura Health in Chennai and things started looking up from there. The actress said:

“You know, all my life, I have struggled to be thin…I have dieted like crazy and exercised like crazy, and sometimes, I would lose weight, and it would come back… No matter what I did, my weight was still increasing… and then, early on this year, I met a nutritional group called Amura (Amura Health) in Chennai… They said, ‘This is just inflammation, it is not fat’... So, they put me on a diet to get rid of the inflammation, ‘elimination of inflammation’ it’s called, and it worked beautifully for me and the weight went like that because they eliminated foods that were not suiting me.”

Galatta Interview

Vidya Balan realised after consultation that the reason behind her weight was not fat, but inflammation. In the interview, she provided insights into the potential damage vegetables can do if we are not aware of their impact on our bodies. She was heard saying:

“I have been a vegetarian all my life, but I did not know that palak and doodhi (spinach and gourd) don’t suit me… You have to figure out what's good for you as just because it is good for someone else, it may not be good for you… They asked me to stop working out, and everyone’s been telling me, ‘Oh my god, you look your slimmest’, and I haven’t worked out all year… and I want to say, judgment around the body is brutal… people put on and shed weight for serious reasons because our bodies express what we're going through emotionally also.”

She explains how it is easier to sit in judgment, but people often forget that they could end up in the same position themselves. People are often brutal in judging others because they are charged with all the judgment they receive from society. The actress explained:

"I have not worked out all year... And I want to say, that judgment around the body is brutal. A lot of times, people put on weight for various reasons because our bodies express what we are going through emotionally also... even I would not have believed last year if I had been told 'Stop working out'. I used to be a beast in the gym. And I had people telling me, 'You must not be working out at all'. And now, people tell me, ‘So what are you doing?’ and I am like, 'No, I don't do anything'. I am just enjoying myself and I am feeling healthier than ever. I am not saying you should not exercise... but remember no two people are the same... we must respect our individuality."

Vidya Balan delivers a powerful message when describing her awe-inspiring weight loss journey.

Describing her weight loss experience, Vidya Balan stressed the importance of knowing what kind of diet suits you and what does not. There is a misconception among people that all kinds of green vegetables are beneficial, but this might not be the case with everyone. Hence, it is crucial to know our body and focus on the right food rather than cluelessly sweating in the gym.
