Singer, Victor Willis' heartbreaking last Facebook post has surfaced on the social media. He mentioned in the post that he had completed the first leg of their European tour and decided to take his first flight to New Delhi, India. Victor revealed on how his band performed for the first time in India and penned:
"Just completed the first leg of our European tour and decided to hop a flight to New Delhi, India to celebrate America's 250th anniversary celebration there. This marks the first time Village People has ever performed in India. And it just happened to be the birthday of Secretary Marco Rubio for whom we sang happy birthday before singing of course, YMCA!"

Singer Victor Willis' wife, Karen Huff-Willis, announced on Facebook with profound sadness that she lost her husband on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. Karen stated that Victor died as a result of a short, but aggressive illness and that the family requested privacy during this time of grief. A statement by his team also read:
"We are profoundly sad to announce the death of Victor Willis, lead singer of Village People. Victor passed on June 30, 2026 of a short but aggressive illness. Privacy is requested.”
Netizens have been shocked by Victor Willis' sudden demise. A user questioned Victor's sudden cause of demise due to a short but aggressive illness and wrote, "At arguably the height of his and the band's popularity? Let's just say that there are no conspiracies, but there are coincidences. Get a toxicology report of the last several months, and treat this tragedy with the respect that it deserves: a criminal investigation. Rest In Peace."
Another user penned, "Victor Willis. Thanks for allowing Trump to use your song "YMCA" all of these years, because the hateful and deranged don't want it to be heard anymore. Please don't let the music end! You and your band The Village People are Great Americans." A third user offering condolences wrote:

Two years ago we did a Star Trek fan movie to celebrate the music of Village People and especially two songs which I love and Victor Willis wrote: "In the Navy" and "Go West". Victor Willis was a Texas-born musician who co-wrote the band's biggest global hits, including Y.M.C.A., Macho Man, and In the Navy. Well, Victor's band had six members who represented the American machoistic man. Victor was the main lead singer and was joined by Felipe Rose (The Native American), Alex Briley (The Soldier /Sailor), Glenn Hughes (The Biker / Leatherman), David Hodo (The Construction Worker), and Randy Jones (The Cowboy).
Victor Willis reportedly left the group in the 1980s and then rejoined permanently in 2017. Victor Willis, in a 2015 interview with the San Diego Tribune, said he hoped to be remembered as that guy who got out of the music business but never gave up, came back successfully and did something for people to smile about.
