Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif are considered one of the most loved couples in Bollywood. In fact, time and again, the couple has proved to be in an ideal relationship. The duo tied the knot in December 2021. Due to his loving nature, Vicky is often labelled as the 'green-flag husband'. However, Vicky’s recent joke on marriage didn’t go well with the netizens. Social media users found Vicky’s remark 'outdated' and 'misogynistic'. The 'green-flag husband' tag seemingly slipped away from Vicky after the wife joke comment.
Recently, Vicky Kaushal attended a wedding ceremony. A video of Vicky interacting with the guests of the ceremony has gained momentum on social media. In a now-viral video, The Great Indian Family actor was seen asking the groom to deliver his iconic dialogue, "How’s the josh?" from the massive blockbuster film, Uri: The Surgical Strike. While the crowd enthusiastically responded to him, Vicky’s following comment on married life came as a shock to many.

Sharing his thoughts, Vicky said that every bachelor is high on energy, while married men’s energy seems to go down with each passing year. While it seemed like a light-hearted comment, it has turned into a major controversy online. Vicky was quoted as saying:
"Maine yeh dekha hai ki bachelors ka josh hamesha high rehta hai. Hum shaadi-shuda waalon ka josh saal dar saal girta rehta hai."

Soon after the viral video made its way to the discussion platform, Reddit, social media users flooded the comment section. A Redditor wrote, "Well, that didn't take so long; the green flag facade came off sooner than expected. 2026 and some men aren't done with this wife jokes shit." Another user commented, "Oh wow, Vicky ji is slowly turning from green flag to red flag with time." Another user penned, "Kitto fans spent their whole life proving how Kitto 'got saved' from misogynist Ranbir and Salman only to end up with him lol nevertheless first that award show remark and now this proves how much of a 'green forest' Mr Katrina really is." A fourth user wrote, "His green flag husband PR in muds now."

Slamming Vicky, a user wrote, "To be honest, I think he finds Katrina a bit annoying - it always comes out in various comments he's made about her, even from their earlier days. I really don't think he'd have married her if she weren't Katrina Kaif, because being associated with her helps his career and brand value a lot. Having said that, humiliating your partner in public is a huge no-no - it shows he doesn't respect her that much. It's just not funny to make jokes at your partner's expense." "I can’t stand these so-called 'marriage jokes', no matter who they come from, man or woman. They don’t just fall flat; they chip away at the dignity of the relationship itself. Turning your partner and your bond into a public punchline, then hiding behind 'it’s just a joke,' isn’t humour, it’s disrespect dressed up as wit."
In many interviews, Katrina opened up about her husband, Vicky Kaushal’s caring nature. She also mentioned that Vicky is a good listener and is the calm to her chaos. Thus, Vicky is often tagged as an 'ideal husband' to Katrina. In a 2025 interview with Pinkvilla, Vicky reacted to the following. He shared that there has been no such concept of 'ideal man' and thus there has been no concept of being an 'ideal husband'. He was quoted as saying:
"As there is no such concept of being an ideal man, there is no such concept of being an ideal husband or an ideal son or an ideal brother. We keep evolving, we keep learning, we keep building our relationships. And that's what we all are doing."
