Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleColleen Hoover's Verity has been a favorite among dark romance lovers. The book has a slow start, but it's impossible to put down once the plot takes off. It is considered one of Hoover's finest works, so when the announcement was made that it was being turned into a movie, fans had sky-high expectations, especially with Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway in the lead.
However, when the film was released, fans had mixed reactions. While many admitted that adapting a plot like Verity's isn't easy, others thought the film was not necessary. Nonetheless, the film has created immense chatter and left fans curious about how much the cast was paid for Colleen Hoover's novel adaptation.
Verity alleged cast fee revealed
Verity has finally made its way onto the big screen, and while the film itself is receiving mixed reviews, there has been immense curiosity around who is getting paid the most. According to reports, Brady Wagner, who played 'Crew Crawford', the young son of 'Verity' and 'Jeremy', was paid USD 75,000 for the film. Irina Dvorovenko, who played the role of 'Anna', the full-time, in-house nurse responsible for 'Verity', was paid USD 150,000 for the movie.

'Lowen Ashleigh's' agent and former romantic fling, 'Corey', played by Ismael Cruz Cordova, was allegedly paid USD 250,000. Coming to the main cast, Josh Hartnett was paid USD 750,000 for the role of 'Jeremy Crawford', 'Verity's' husband and the male lead of the film. Dakota Johnson, who played the ghostwriter 'Lowen Ashleign', charged USD 2 million for the role.
And finally, 'Verity', the woman who forms the core of the film, was played by Anne Hathaway, and for the crucial role, she was allegedly paid USD 2.5 million. These amounts are unconfirmed and purely estimates.
Colleen Hoover's Verity movie fails to deliver the twisted ending
If you have read the novel, Verity's ending is one of the most twisted endings readers have come across. It doesn't simply guide the audience to the end; instead, it leaves them in ambiguity that almost makes you want to rip your hair out. The novel had a very love-hate relationship with the readers, making them feel guilty about siding with the characters, while also making it impossible to turn away.

However, this dizzying sense of what's right is what made the novel what it was. This is completely stripped away in the film. The film tells the tale of 'Lowen Ashleigh' (Dakota Johnson), a struggling young author who's recruited by 'Jeremy' (Josh Hartnett), the hot husband of novelist 'Verity Crawford' (Anne Hathaway), to ghostwrite the final book in her popular series from their secluded (and palatial) house in the woods.
While it was already known that Michael Showalter took creative liberties with Colleen Hoover's material, including the elimination of one of the dead children, he has kept the ending largely intact, though he almost didn't. The film ends with pregnant 'Lowen' finding out about 'Verity's' writing exercise.
She and 'Jeremy' drive off together into their new life as she looks out the window and ponders the truth about 'Verity'. Ultimately deciding it will always remain a mystery. While it's close to how the novel ended, it doesn't land the way it did in the book.
