Australian Creator, Holly Who Lost Her Hair At 6, Finally Shows Off Bald Head As She Ditches Wig

Holly had been through a lot, as leaving the house without a wig was impossible due to the bullying and prying eyes that would stick to her head.

For Holly, stepping out without wigs was once a big no-no, but she has taken the bold decision after thirty years of living with wigs. She took to her Instagram handle and flaunted her baldness, openly talking about how, at a young age, she started noticing bald patches. So, one day, she shaved her head, thinking that it would grow back thicker, only to realize it was never coming back.
Taking to her Instagram handle, Holly shared an empowering video where she can be seen flaunting her bald head while strolling around the city with her friends and enjoying every moment of it. She was looking gorgeous in her casual ensembles. Along with it, she penned an emotional post about how six-year-old Holly would not believe that she would be walking bald around the city.
And sixteen-year-old Holly would not accept it. She further stated that her hair fell off when she was six years old, and for the next 30 years she believed that she wouldn't ever leave the house without a wig. The thought of someone seeing her bare head would scare her. After all, we have been told that women look great with long, luscious hair. She wrote:
"Six-year-old me would not believe this (and 16-year-old me would have wondered who had the gun to my head HAHA). My hair fell out completely when I was 6, and for the next 30 years I didn’t leave the house without a wig on. Not once. Just the thought of someone seeing my bare head NAKED terrified me."
She revealed that at the age of 35, she is walking around Europe flaunting her baldness. While she still loves her wigs, she has found the confidence to show off her vulnerability as she wants to. And she is not scared to go out without her wigs. She said:
"Now I’m 35 and walking around Europe bald like it’s nothing. Still can’t believe it tbh. I still love my wigs, and I’ll keep wearing them. The difference is now it’s because I want to, not because I’m scared to go without. That’s a BIG deal for me. So, this is your reminder. Confidence isn’t born; it’s made. It took a lot of intentional, scary & uncomfortable steps to get here… but I’ve never been more free."
Holly has alopecia and has been bald since she was six. She had worn wigs outside of her house for most of her life. While she has accepted herself without the wigs, it is still one of the easiest ways to leave home without making eye contact with strangers.
Netizens were quick to praise Holly and her confidence as she looked great flaunting her bare head. One user wrote, "I'm just back from a holiday, and you inspired me to go out bald too! If Holly can do it, so can I. Thank you for normalizing something so many of us find so hard." Another one commented, "The only people who look twice are the ones going "damn how pretty is she."
