At present, the country is dealing with many issues. With various protest going on every other day, it is getting hard to determine what is right and what is wrong. But the one thing that we feel is utterly wrong is social media trolling. Many celebrities have faced brutal social media trolling recently, however, it has been a constant for Urmila Matondkar ever since she had gotten married. One of the most loved actresses of Bollywood, Urmila Matondkar had surprised all her fans and well-wishers with her marriage announcement in the year 2016. The actress, who is immensely loved for her super-fit body, incredible dancing skills, along with her acting prowess had tied the knot with her beau, Mohsin Akhtar on March 3rd, 2016. Now, the actor turned politician, Urmila Matondkar has opened up on the constant attacks on her Kashmiri-Muslim husband, Mohsin Akhtar and his family.
In a conversation with Mojo Story, Urmila Matondkar shared how her in-laws and her husband have been constantly trolled for being Kashmiri Muslim. She shared that her Wikipedia page is also being vandalized by trollers as they changed her parents’ name on it. She said, “He was called a terrorist, a Pakistani. I mean, there is a limit to where it should go… They have even infiltrated my Wikipedia page and they have gone and put my mother’s name as Rukhsana Ahmed and my father’s name as Shivinder Singh, two human beings who must be living somewhere in India but I don’t know of. My father’s name is Shrikant Matondkar and my mother’s name is Sunita Matondkar.”
Sharing that trolling gets out of limit as her husband is a Kashmiri Muslim, she added, “To top it all, my husband is not only a Muslim but a Kashmiri Muslim. We both follow our religions in an equally staunch way. That gave them a bigger platform to troll me and constantly target him and his family. It was very unfortunate.” The actress also shared that she is not thick-skinned and mentioned, “I don’t have a thick skin but I have too beautiful a skin to let it be dirtied by these kind of things that come my way. I think sensitivity is one of the strongest points of a woman. Being able to have that compassion, that empathy and that sensitivity is what makes me a woman.”
