Saif Ali Khan had married Amrita Singh in 1991, when he was 21 and she was 12 years older to him. In 2004, Saif and Amrita were granted divorce and eight years later, he had tied the knot with his Tashan co-star, Kareena Kapoor. Before getting married to Kareena, Saif had written a letter to his first wife, Amrita, sending her good wishes and made his then to-be wife read it before forwarding it. To which, Sara Ali Khan had later called Saif and had said, “You know, I was coming anyway but now I am coming with a happier heart.” That’s what somewhat sums up the beautiful relationship this quintessential modern family shares!

Soha Ali Khan had released her first book as an author, The Perils of Being Moderately Famous in 2017 and while her entire family, Sharmila Tagore, Saif Ali Khan, Saba Ali Khan, Kunal Kemmu and Kareena Kapoor Khan were present to cheer for her at her book launch, her ex-sister-in-law, Amrita Singh wasn’t there. In an interaction with T2 Online, when Soha was asked about Amrita’s absence, she had retorted, "My relationship with my ex-sister-in-law, Amrita Singh, is not as close as it used to be then. And that is not to say that it is a huge controversy or anything. It is just how it is. And it is how it would be with any other family. Which is why she wasn't there at my book launch." Soha had added there’s no bad blood between them but she did agree that sometimes we don’t have control over the circumstances in our life. Speaking about her relationship with niece and nephew, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, Soha Ali Khan had continued, "I would like to believe that Sara and I are very close. I think she likes me and my perspective on things and we get along very well. Well, as much as it is possible to connect with your 20-something niece, who is embarking on her film career. Ibrahim, to be honest, is a rockstar in his own right." Revealing why Sara and Ibrahim weren’t there at her book launch, Soha had said, "Well, I would have loved to have Sara and Ibrahim at the launch. But unfortunately, neither of them were available at the time. Sara was shooting for Kedarnath, and Ibrahim was in England."
On Koffee With Karan, when Saif Ali Khan had come together for the first time with his daughter, Sara Ali Khan, the Kedarnath debutante had reminisced the last dinner she had with her parents. Reminiscing the last time, he had met his ex-wife, Amrita Singh, Saif had said, "In Columbia, when we went to drop Sara to the University. We had dinner together in New York." Sara had continued, "It was nice. I was going to college and mom had come to drop me and Abba was also there. Actually, my father and I were having dinner and then we decided to call my mum, and she came. We had a good time. And then they set me up in college together, I remember. And it was actually quite a sight because you were seeing, you know, Amrita Singh, and for those of you who know her, it's a funny sight, like, making my bed and Saif Ali Khan putting the bulb in the lamp.
