Uncanny Resemblance Between Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt And His Parents, Neetu-Rishi's Wedding

The Bollywood stars, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s wedding has become the biggest talk of the town. Reportedly, the couple would be tying the knot in a hush-hush wedding on April 16, 2022, and their pre-wedding functions would kick-start two days prior to D-Day. The latest reports suggest, they had already booked the venue at his residential complex in Chembur, for seven to eight days. However, there are also speculations that the duo could tie the knot at his Vastu complex in Pali Hill and not in his residence.

For the unversed, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s love story had started on the famous chat show, Koffee With Karan, when Alia had disclosed her crush on Ranbir. Afterwards, they had come closer on the sets of their first film together, Brahmastra, and the rest had become history. Reportedly, the duo is finally going to marry and begin a life together.

Amidst all speculations of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s wedding, Bhawana Somaaya, a film critic and author, in an interview with the ETimes, marked the uncanny resemblance between the duo’s wedding with Ranbir’s parents, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. Throwing light on the speculations that were even rife during Rishi and Neetu’s wedding, Bhawana mentioned that people used to think about whether Neetu would marry Rishi or not, however, now in the case of Ranbir and Alia, it’s different as the to-be-married couple is in a courtship for many years. Bhawana said:

"There was a lot of speculation before Rishi and Neetu's wedding, too. People used to say, 'Will Rishi get married?' and others used to wonder, 'Will Neetu marry Rishi?' Ranbir and Alia's relationship hasn't had that kind of speculation but people have wondered if they'll settle down together or not only because their courtship has gone on for a long time. That's why everybody started wondering if they'll get married or not.”

Further in the conversation, Bhawana shed light on how even after huge differences between Neetu and Rishi’s families, as she belongs to the Sikh religion and he was Hindu, they had got married and had lived happily ever after. Bhawana also mentioned Neetu’s decision of giving full commitment to her marriage and leaving her career behind and said:

“With Rishi and Neetu the courtship wasn't as long, but people had doubts that their relationship would end up in marriage. You see, people at that time used to feel there was a big difference in the two families and their lifestyles. And yet, Rishi and Neetu got married with such ease. It was fantastic. And look at Neetu, she gave her full commitment to marriage and gave up her career. That was a huge decision on her part."

Drawing a similarity between Neetu’s choice of leaving her career for marriage and Alia’s riding up in her professional life, Bhawana mentioned that the to-be-Kapoor bahu’s support towards the family during Rishi’s last stage of fighting cancer had made a huge difference to her relationship with Ranbir. Revealing about the same, Bhawana added:

"With Alia, she was on the rise when she first met Ranbir. I really feel she rose to new levels as an artiste after meeting Ranbir. One good film after another started coming to her and it's not just that, even Rishi fell ill and Alia was around to take care of the family during that phase. It probably made a huge difference to their relationship."

Bhawana concluded the interview by mentioning Neetu’s choice of following her Sikh religion. Bhawana added that it was the reason behind having an akhand paath before the Kapoor family used to start anything auspicious. However, Bhawana also mentioned that Rishi’s family used to have a mata ki chowki before any new beginning. And thus, when the duo got married, both the akhand paath and mata ki chowki were held at their respective homes. She also added that the Kapoors had held a mata ki chowki right before Riddhima's marriage too.
