Twisha Sharma's death case, CBI files chargesheet accusing her mother-in-law and Samarth Singh for her death

The CBI's initial investigation into the death of Twisha Sharma is over, and the chargesheet they filed accuses former judge Giribala Singh and her son, Samarth Singh, of abetment to suicide. Not only this they are also accused of dowry harassment. For the unversed, Twisha was found dead at her husband's home in Bhopal on May 12, 2026.

As per sources, CBI filed a chargesheet of 636-pages and applied sections of the law on dowry death, matrimonail cruelty and abetment to suicide. Twisha's family had accused her in-laws of mentally and physically abusing her as they tried to destroy evidence using their influence and power.

In fact, after the FIR was filed, Samarth Singh ran away and then he was arrested in Jabalpur on May 22, 2026, and was brought to Bhopal. The CBI investigated Samarth and checked his mobile phone, digital contacts and events around the time of Twisha's death. The MP government urged for the CBI probe in the matter as a foul play was clearly evident.

The postmortem report stated that six injuries were found on Twisha's body and the cause of death was revealed as hanging. Twisha Sharma's family wasn't satisfied with the first postmortem and they urged for a second one.

On May 28, 2026, CBI arrested her mother-in-law in Twisha's death case. A CBI team reached Giribala Singh's home after her bail plea was quashed on May 27, 2026. They opposed the anticipatory bail of a former judge. They put across the fact that her custodial interrogation was needed in the probe to find the truth. During the hearing, CBI stated that Giribala left no stone unturned to malign her late daughter-in-law's character.

Not only this, but CBI also allegedly accused Twisha's mother-in-law of dowry harassment and attempting to destroy evidence. They also forced her to terminate a pregnancy. The agency further told the court that injuries were found on Twisha's wrist and elbow, and the in-laws failed to give an explanation about the marks. As per CBI, the medical team has ruled out the fact that the injuries were caused during the autopsy or taking her body down.

For those who don't know, Twisha Sharma hailed from Noida in Uttar Pradesh. As per reports, she hanged herself at the house of her husband, Samarth, on May 12, 2026. Reportedly, the two met on a dating app in 2024 and tied the knot in December 2025. Her last WhatsApp conversation has made it onto the internet, wherein Twisha was expressing her anxiety to her friend. Twisha told her friend that she was sitting at home and wanted to do something meaningful with her life.

She also talked about how marriage might create a family, but a person cannot stop working on themselves. In the same chat, Twisha advised her friend not to rush to get married and to think before tying the knot. When the friend questioned if she was fine, Twisha said that she was fine, but missed her home and her friend.

We pray Twisha Sharma's family get justice in the matter.
