Twisha Sharma Case, CBI Sends Husband, Samarth And MIL, Giribala Home For 80 Kg Hanging Dummy Test

The untimely passing of model and actress, Twisha Sharma has generated immense buzz. The 33-year-old Noida-based woman was found deceased on May 12, 2026, in her marital home in Bhopal's Katara Hills. The reason for her death was reported as suicide, but was contested by the bereaved family. They alleged that severe dowry harassment, physical and mental torment by Twisha's husband, Samarth Singh and her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh pushed her to take the extreme step. Both the accused have been arrested and handed over to the CBI. Amid that, their case took a new turn with the usage of an 80 kg dummy.

What will the hanging dummy be used for in Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh's case?

The investigation of Twisha Sharma's mysterious death has been going on in full phase. Latest update by NDTV suggests that the CBI will be sending the deceased's husband, Samarth Singh and mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, to their house. The accused are not being released but are being sent there for a test, which will serve as a crucial element of Twisha Sharma's death case. It might provide a breakthrough in the investigation regarding the truth behind her cause and manner of passing. For the test, they will use an 80 kg hanging dummy to recreate the crime scene and verify the statements made by Samarth Singh and his mother, Giribala.

According to Samarth's previous statement, he was the one who found Twisha hanging with a belt around her neck. He claimed to have brought down Twisha's body, and Giribala allegedly untied the knot around her neck. The entire narrative lacks an alibi and thus needs to be verified using the hanging dummy method. The dummy with a similar weight to Twisha will be hung using a belt at the site of the alleged suicide, and Samarth will be asked to re-enact discovering his late wife's alleged suicide and do everything step by step the same way as he did in Twisha's case.

Samarth Singh's mother will also be asked to do her part, i.e., untying the knot. Besides checking the authenticity of his and Giribala's statements, the strength of the object (belt) used by Twisha to allegedly kill herself will also be checked. Giribala was arrested on May 28, 2026, after her anticipatory bail was cancelled by the Madhya Pradesh court and her relief granted by a Bhopal sessions court was set aside a day before. Samarth allegedly surrendered himself after disappearing for 10 days. The court has sent both Giribala and Samarth into CBI custody till June 2, 2026.

Why did Twisha Sharma's husband remain MIA for 10 days?

Twisha Sharma's husband, Samarth Singh's lawyer, Mrigendra Singh, explicitly argued that his client was not hiding or on the run. In an interview with NDTV, the defence attorney said that Samarth was exercising his legal right to seek protection under the law. He specifically cited Section 482 of the new Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Mrigendra mentioned they wanted to request liberty from the court first, but he ultimately advised Samarth to surrender once those options were no longer viable.

The lawyer representing Samarth Singh also said that his client had to opt for that path because he had no other option to avoid immediate arrest. Attorney, Mrigendra Singh shared the reason being that Twisha Sharma's bereaved family hurled severe, non-bailable charges against Samarth, which involve up to 10 years of imprisonment. As per the lawyer, Samarth would have been arrested immediately without a hearing if he had made a public appearance at that time without legal safeguards.
