'Tu Yaa Main' Star, Shanaya Kapoor, Recalls How Her Ex-BF Cheated On Her, 'There Were Five Girls..'

Shanaya Kapoor is currently hogging the limelight for her recently released film, Tu Yaa Main. For the unversed, the survival thriller was released on February 13, 2026. Alongside Shanaya, the film also stars Adarsh Gourav in the lead role. Shanaya plays the role 'Miss Vanity', a.k.a 'Avani', and Adarsh plays the role of 'Aala Flowpara', a.k.a 'Maruti'. Amid the buzz surrounding her film, Shanaya got candid and shared an unheard story related to her personal life.

Shanaya Kapoor opens up about her past relationship, where she was cheated on by her then-boyfriend

In a recent podcast Relationshit Advice, Shanaya opened up about her past relationship with her then-boyfriend. The Tu Yaa Main actress shared that initially, she believed that she was having the best relationship. However, her sense of security broke one day when she and her then-boyfriend went out for dinner. Recalling the day, Shanaya mentioned that as her phone was charged out, she was using her boyfriend's phone. That’s when she discovered that he was cheating on her. The man was talking to five women simultaneously. She was quoted as saying:

"I was thinking, 'This is it. It’s too good to be true. What a life, wow. This is the best relationship.' The second girl popped up, the third girl, the fourth, the fifth. There were five girls he was messaging."

During the same conversation, Shanaya shared that the first message that popped up on her boyfriend’s phone was from his ex-girlfriend. Shanaya mentioned that when she became curious and went through the messages, she found it inappropriate. She highlighted that her boyfriend was texting the five girls and pretending to be single. Shanaya added that she took immediate advice from her friends, including Bollywood actress, Ananya Panday, for the following.

During the same conversation, Shanaya shared that after she caught her boyfriend cheating on her, she immediately shared the screenshots with her friends through Snapchat. Among those she reached out to at the time was Bollywood actress, Ananya Panday. Shanaya mentioned that Ananya told her to catch a train and just come to her. However, she couldn’t escape as she needed to process what was happening and why it all happened. She added that after knowing the cheating thing, the next three days, she acted normal, but deep down, she was processing the betrayal privately. She was quoted as saying:

"My friend, Ananya (Panday), was like, ‘Catch a train and just come here. We were pretty close by.' I was like, 'I can’t just catch a f***** train, what do I do?' This whole dinner, I’m pretending like everything’s okay."

Shanaya Kapoor recalls how her ex-boyfriend denied to accept that he cheated on her

Further in the conversation, Shanaya recalled how her then-boyfriend felt that something was wrong with her and gifted her a pair of expensive earrings. She called the pair of earrings, 'guilty earrings'. She mentioned that when she confronted her boyfriend about the messages, he denied accepting that he cheated on her. According to him, it was just a normal messaging and nothing was physical in it. He said, "What’s the big deal? This is just messaging; it was nothing physical."

However, Shanaya called it emotional cheating and broke up with him. Shanaya added that firstly, she became mental when she received the gift from her ex-boyfriend, but later kept it with her. She still wears the earrings. She was quoted as saying:

"I went mental, but I still have the earrings. I still wear them… I’ve earned those earrings. Those are my earrings."
