Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have been making headlines ever since they started dating. However, that's not the only reason why the duo is in the news; their devotion towards their individual careers is something fans have been closely following and appreciating. Nonetheless, while Taylor has made it clear that she doesn't plan on putting the mic down anytime soon, it's Travis who has been in the limelight for the 2025 NFL season, being his last round in the fields.
Travis Kelce's team, the Kansas City Chiefs, is playing against the Denver Broncos on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025 (ET), amid rumors about his retirement. According to reports, if he chooses to hang up his cleats, this could be the Chiefs star's final game at the iconic Arrowhead Stadium, which marked the beginning of his relationship with now-fiancée, Taylor Swift. The speculations came after Andy Reid and company had been eliminated from the playoff race.

However, before the Chiefs hit the ground for one final game this NFL season, fans picked up on several hints pointing in one direction for Travis Kelce: retirement. First, a video of the star player walking out of the tunnel, applauding the crowd, and spreading his arms surfaced on social media. And then there was a clip of him during the national anthem. Nonetheless, it was his interview with franchise legend, Tony Gonzalez that became the final nail for the fans. The 36-year-old was asked whether the Broncos game would be his last at Arrowhead.

The TE said he is still 'searching for answers', further adding that it was a 'two-way street' between him and the Chiefs. Travis Kelce also said he will take some advice from his brother, Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce, who retired in 2024. The 36-year-old said that this season, he has disappointed coach, Reid. Travis also talked about his relationship with Patrick Mahomes, and stated:
"There'll definitely never be a goodbye to him. It'll just be like another day in the life with Patty Mahomes. What he's done to my career up to this point can't be measured. It's all the little things that you see manifest out there onto the field that we're working on every single week, every single offseason. When he came into the league, he took this thing by storm. And it's been a fun ride ever since he's been at the helm."

Travis Kelce previously discussed the "harsh reality" of his role in the game during a conversation with Gonzalez. He talked about how he "knows when it's over, it's over," and that he can feel the day coming. The duo has combined for over 70 touchdowns. He concluded by stating that he still has a lot of love for the game, and if he came back, it would just be "to answer that flame in my heart that I still love this thing." He added:
"I was like, 'Oh man, that's a dark way to look at it.' I think, I don't know, I'll always be able to go out there in the backyard slinging around with the old Texas gunslinger. But you know that day is going to come. If it's already happened, I can feel pretty content with how many times he's connected on the field with me and how much success and how much fun we've had playing this game."
