Toy Story 5, directed by Andrew Stanton, has arrived in theatres worldwide on June 19, 2026. The sequel has been released after seven years of speculation that a fifth film might not be made at all. However, the wait was not so long compared to what happened before Toy Story 3 and Toy Story 4. The sequel has marked the return of several important characters alongside the actors who voiced those characters.
The Rotten Tomatoes score has already proved that Toy Story 5 has left an impression on critics and audiences. It is expected to repeat the success of the Toy Story franchise over the years. The storyline looks interesting, and everyone has been willing to know how the introduction of ‘Lilypad’ is going to change the dynamics between the characters. Keep reading to know what happens at the end of the new animated film!

Toy Story 5 introduces ‘Bonnie’ as an eight-year-old girl. Despite the fact that she has grown up now, ‘Bonnie’ has failed to build a close friendship with the children who stay in the same neighborhood. She is extremely shy and very different compared to the other kids, which is something that even ‘Jessie’ agrees on. Things take a different turn for ‘Bonnie’ when she receives a ‘Lilypad’ from her parents.

The ‘Lilypad’ is a tablet made only for children. It has a pre-installed social media network, The Pond, along with several group text messages and multiplayer games. ‘Bonnie’ eventually makes a few friends on the device, and she is accompanied by ‘Jessie’ and ‘Bullseye’ for a sleepover. However, ‘Bonnie’ is bullied by those friends she found on the device.

For anyone who is wondering why ‘Bonnie’ was bullied, it was because she had an attraction for toys at the age of eight. In between that, ‘Jessie’ and ‘Bullseye’ lose their way, and they are found by an elderly couple. The duo checks ‘Jessie’s’ boot, which reveals the location of her first owner. The pair goes back to the place where ‘Jessie’ witnessed ‘Emily’ grow up. ‘Jessie’ also finds a girl named ‘Blaze’, and the former believes that she can be a good friend of ‘Bonnie.’

‘Jessie’ decides to introduce ‘Blaze’ to ‘Bonnie.’ She is also assisted by some other toys to ensure that ‘Blaze’ and ‘Bonnie’ form a close relationship. However, things might not be so easy for ‘Jessie’ since the bullying experience leaves a bad impact on ‘Bonnie,’ who decides not to play with toys in the future. On the other hand, ‘Jessie’ says that she does not want to face another situation of being left by another kid.

‘Jessie’ later finds a few memories linked to ‘Emily’ in an old lunchbox, buried below an engraving near an old tire swing. She even finds that ‘Emily’ named her daughter ‘Jessie,’ who also understands that her efforts have not been wasted in any manner. She even accepts the fact that children grow up at one point, and it is a phase of life that cannot be ignored.
‘Buzz’ and ‘Woody’ are on their way to help ‘Jessie’ and ‘Bullseye’ when they meet multiple ‘Buzz Lightyear’ action figures. Notably, they arrived on a cargo ship and were initially left on a deserted island in the beginning. The action figures have been looking for the Star Command, who is believed to be ‘Jessie’. The action figures eventually decide to help the toys in their mission.

On the other hand, ‘Jessie’ attempts to get in touch with ‘Lilypad’, aiming to bring ‘Bonnie’ and ‘Blaze’ close to each other. However, ‘Jessie’ fails to contact ‘Lilypad,’ who has left in a toy donation truck after witnessing ‘Bonnie’s’ bullying and feeling bad about everything that happened to her. The toys eventually find the truck with help from ‘Blaze’s’ toy horse collection. 'Lilypad' is convinced to make ‘Bonnie’ and ‘Blaze’ friends, which works. ‘Bonnie’ and ‘Blaze’ then meet for the first time and start connecting based on their attraction to toys.
