Additionally, the 48-year-old quarterback admitted that his final season in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022 was more challenging for him than any fan could see. Recalling how the year marked the first losing season of his 23-year career, Tom said:

"My last season was tough. I was going through a lot of personal and family issues, and it was a challenge. It really took a lot out of me in terms of my ability to continue to play."

Further, the football icon explained that the heightened attention and public scrutiny surrounding his separation from Gisele Bündchen added to his emotional strain during the same period. For those unaware, the Brazilian supermodel was the one who officially filed for divorce in Florida in October 2022 after 13 years of togetherness. The couple shares two children. Meanwhile, his team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, finished the 2022 season with an 8-9 record, marking the first time Tom had more losses than wins. Sharing how he does not regret it, Tom said 

"I had 23 years of football, so I didn't feel like I was missing anything by retiring. I was 45. I wanted to spend time with my kids. I felt like it was finally time to be at all my kids' games."
