Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleOnce in a while, the Internet community comes together for something special, and the same happened with New Zealand footballer, Tim Payne. Before he was set to leave for the FIFA World Cup, internet users learned he had the fewest followers among other players in the tournament. Needless to say, they got to work and brought Tim's underrated talent to the fore by making him go viral. In turn, the lesser-known defender suddenly gained millions of followers, which changed his life. Meanwhile, his partner, Michelle Peters, sat down and revealed how their lives changed after his sudden rise in popularity.
Tim Payne's partner, Michelle Peters, recently sat down for an interview and recalled how he realised something was unusual with his social media. She revealed that he had made a video call to her and their one-year-old child some days ago. During the call, Tim mentioned to them that his social media account suddenly received thousands of new followers. In turn, he was confused and kept asking why so many people began to follow him. In fact, the footballer also came across a viral Spanish-language video and asked her to translate it for him. In her words:
"We were just chatting, and he was like, 'I'm just getting lots of random followers... and then he's like, 'What is this video? Can you translate it for me? I think the fact that I'm from Latin America, I can kind of understand where the whole buzz and like the emotion of it all is."

For those unaware, Michelle was born in New Zealand but grew up in Costa Rica, which made her fluent in Spanish. In turn, she explained to him the video, jokes, memes and increasing online fame around him. Soon, the few unexpected notifications quickly turned into a global internet movement. So, in the last few weeks, Tim's Instagram followers grew from 5,000 to 5.4 million. For those unaware, Argentine content creator El Scarso started a campaign encouraging football fans to support the New Zealand defender.

Michelle admitted that the experience was overwhelming for them at first. But the reaction was overwhelmingly positive. She admitted that the support was not just helpful to Tim but also to New Zealand football as a whole. In fact, Michelle was impressed by the way people celebrated and encouraged someone she loved. At the same time, it helped them personally by getting Tim brand partnerships, offers, sponsorship opportunities, media requests and public appearances. Sharing how it helped them, she said:
"It was a bit overwhelming, but the support has just been so positive. All of this has been so positive in so many ways. You know, for New Zealand football, for Tim's career, for us as a family. And just seeing everyone cheer on Tim has been, like, from me, from my perspective, as his partner's just been really nice, just seeing so many people give the person that you love support."

Before Tim Payne rose to fame, he and Michelle loved a quiet life together. They have spent several years supporting each other's careers. In fact, their bond became stronger when they welcomed their first child. Incidentally, her connection to Latin American culture helped her become the person who explained the viral moment to Tim, which made him a sensation.
