Nearly, 50 years of an active film career, Rishi Kapoor always believed in hard work and staying true to one’s craft. On April 30, 2020, the nation had woken up with the most terrible news of losing one of its rarest gems. Rishi Kapoor had bid adieu to everyone who had loved him immensely and had left for the heavenly abode. The 67-year-old actor, who was fighting from cancer for two years, had finally freed himself from all the pains. Recently we stumbled upon a throwback video of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor from one of the episodes of The Kapil Sharma Show. In the video, Rishi ji and Neetu ji were seen in a cute banter about living with each other for 37 years and their chemistry brought tears in our eyes.

After the news of Rishi Kapoor's death came out on April 30, 2020, his wife, Neetu Kapoor had taken to her Instagram handle and had shared a heartbreaking note on the behalf of her family that could be read as "Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45 am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last. He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Her note further read, "In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears. In this hour of personal loss, we also recognise the world is going through a very difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering in public. We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force. He would not have it any other way."

Rishi Kapoor is cancer-free

On September 29, 2018, Rishi Kapoor's cryptic tweet about taking a break from work had raised many eyebrows. He had tweeted about his short absence and had requested his fans and well-wishers not to speculate unnecessary rumours. In his tweet, he had mentioned that he was going to America for some medical treatment. After his tweet, a lot of speculations about the actor’s health had started doing the rounds. Then the New Year, 2019 post from Neetu Kapoor’s profile had provided to be a subtle hint about her husband’s ailment.

Last year, Rishi Kapoor had opened up about battling the devastating disease and the struggles he had to go through in the past year. In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror, when asked to comment on the plenty of speculations about his health, Rishi Kapoor had spilt some beans on how he has been doing and had said, “On the subject of my health, thanks to the prayers and good wishes of my family, friends and fans, I am perfect now. The cancer is in remission, but I am still under treatment.
