Being Indians, we all have a diehard Bollywood fan living in us. We all have grown up watching and believing in love stories and happily ever afters. We might not accept it, but we all love the idea of a film-like set up for a proposal, the perfect first meeting and finally, a Karan Johar movie-like wedding.
Dentist-turned-model, Jyotipriya happened to be one of those lucky brides who got to live through this all and we get you a sneak peek into her love and wedding story with her man, Nishant.
By profession, Jyotipriya is a dentist but she is currently pursuing her dream of being a model and thanks to her good looks and the perfect height, she does full justice to her craft. Nishant, on the other hand, is a senior manager corporate sales for Carlson Wagonlit Travels, India. Poles apart in their profession how did the two meet you ask? Well, thanks to a common friend, the two met unplanned and incidentally at a café in Delhi. The first meeting itself lasted for hours and the rest, as they say, was history.
And because of her expressive personality, it was she who proposed to her man first. She recalls the moment by saying:
‘’I proposed to Nishant first. It was extremely romantic since I asked him to marry me when we were at a bonfire, under the stars with some of his closest friends. It was a very intimate gathering and the moment seemed magical!’’
But little did she know about the romantic side of her man. After her proposal, Nishant too popped the question to his lady love on one knee, with flowers and all things romantic. Jyotipriya was left pleasantly surprised and was certainly on top of the world!
Coming to the wedding planning, both Jyotipriya and Nishant were not in a mood to spend a huge amount of money on the marriage celebration. They wanted a classy, fun and intimate affair for which they themselves spent 4-5 months and planned their own wedding. The main aim behind all the planning was to keep it simple and avoid any kind of unnecessary splurging.
It all started off with the pre-wedding shoot of the couple for which they roped in Plush Affairs Photography. All the different locations, settings and poses were straight out of a magazine - chic and stylish!
Jyotipriya who is originally from Bhiwani, Haryana wanted to hold her sangeet ceremony in her hometown itself. So, the preparations started in full fold and the venue was set up with marigold flowers, garlands and a green and blue décor, lamps and a beautifully decorated rikshaw for a picture-perfect background.
Jyotipriya stunned in an ‘Alpana Neeraj’ creation which was an orange leheriya lehenga with gota patti work, a contrasting parrot green closed-neck blouse with a heavy neckline teamed with an emerald green dupatta.
She looked like the quintessential Rajasthani bride in the attire as she was all set to step into a traditional Rajasthani family. She did her own make up for the day.
The function had two highlights. One was the 2-hour-long dhol session to which the guests danced and the second was Nishant’s surprise entry which was a planned surprise for Jyotipriya from her bhaiya and bhabhi. The entire occasion was a colourful on with Patiala salwars and turbans depicting a full on bright Punjabi celebration.
The engagement, however, was an even more intimate affair with a few of their close family and friends at Sylven chef at Vasant Kunj. Nishant was the highlight of this event as he surprised everyone with his spectacular dance performance at the do.
Jyotipriya looked stunning in a stone-studded high-waist deep blue skirt, a blouse of the same colour with a sheer neckline and sleeves studded with stones. She teamed it up with a lighter shade of blue dupatta and her mom’s diamond earrings. Her hair and makeup were done by her dear friend Alpana Mittal.
Nishant, on the other hand, wore a charcoal grey 3-piece suit in self-checks with a hint of red, a red lapel pin, tan-coloured shoes from Dunes London and a bow tie. The two looked no less than royalty that night.

For her haldi ceremony, Jyotipriya chose to wear a beautiful green saree. The yellow of the décor and the haldi complemented well with her choice of clothes.
It was a gathering of close family members who showered their blessing on her for a beautiful married life ahead. It was only after the haldi that the chooda ceremony commenced.
It was finally time for the D-day!! The wedding took place in a famous farm house in Faridabad called ‘The Eden Gardens’. It was pocket-friendly and the perfect outdoor wedding, thanks to the pleasantly chilly February weather.
For the wedding, Jyotipriya wore a red lehenga with peacock motifs and a heavily embroidered choli, teamed with two net dupattas of the same colour from Frontier Raas. Her makeup was done by famous celebrity makeup artist Savleen Manchanda. She looked like a dream, so elegant and so stylish!
Nishant also could give any actor a run for his money with his wedding day look. He wore a tailor-made black sherwani with zari embroidery, golden pyjamas, a red silk turban, teamed up with golden Punjabi juttis. The highlight of the wedding was the bride’s entry, sitting on a bike with her brother. What style, what swag!
Thus, starting from the wedding invites, the venue, the décor and the other preparations, everything was done in a pocket-friendly manner without wasting a huge amount of money on unnecessary things.
The main aim was to have a memorable wedding where everyone present had a great time and cherished the moments spent for years to come. They also set a great example by showing that a beautiful wedding is possible, without it being an expensive affair. The only thing required is to give the wedding one’s own time and taste.
