Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleAlia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh’s action movie, Alpha, co-starring Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor, is the latest addition to the YRF Spy Universe. Ever since its theatrical release this Friday, the film has been grabbing significant attention, not only for the female leads, but also for the character of Bobby Deol.
The film follows two women pulled into a dangerous mission against a powerful enemy. But one major twist turns the whole plot upside down. While the film has been receiving mixed reactions from the audience, most agree that Bobby Deol's secret identity was the saving grace of the spy thriller. The biggest surprise in Alpha isn't just Bobby Deol's villainous turn; it's the revelation that "Baba" was never 'Colonel Fateh Singh Lakhawat' at all! (Spoilers ahead.)
The dark secret behind Bobby Deol's 'Baba'
For the most part, Bobby Deol's character as ‘Colonel Fateh Singh Lakhawat’, the ruthless military officer, is known simply as ‘Baba’ to Alia Bhatt's ‘Sita’. He appears to be a decorated Indian Army officer leading the secretive Alpha program, a government-backed initiative meant to create genetically enhanced super-soldiers. However, to Sita, he is more than a commander. He is her only parent, who has raised her and trained her to be a deadly assassin since childhood.
But the jaw-dropping climax reveals the truth behind ‘Baba’. The man everyone knows as Fateh Singh Lakhawat is actually not who he seems. His real name is ‘Major Zarrar Khan’, an undercover Pakistani operative who infiltrated India’s military establishment decades ago. Behind his patriotic mask, his real mission was never really to save India but to steal the Alpha program and turn India’s scientific breakthrough against the country.

With this revelation, Sita's world comes crashing down, and her whole childhood and training start to feel like a huge lie.
Sita was never Fateh’s real daughter
Perhaps the most emotional scene that feels like a gut punch is the fact that Sita was never Fateh's biological child. In fact, she had been kidnapped by 'Baba' as a little girl after separating her from her real family. Sita is actually the daughter of RAW Chief ‘Vikrant Kaul’ (Anil Kapoor), who believed his daughter had died.
After abducting little 'Sita', 'Fateh' kept manipulating and weaponising her rather than giving her a normal childhood. Sita uncovered the heartbreaking reality that for every mission she carried out, believing she was serving her own country, she was actually helping Fateh to advance his own secret agenda against the country. And the whole father-daughter bond that once shaped her entire life turns out to be a huge lie.
After the original Alpha super-soldier project was shut down, 'Fateh' secretly continued the research by using scientists to recreate the genetically enhanced serum. Unknowingly, 'Sita' herself became the centrepiece of his experience because of a unique biological makeup. The ultimate goal of the man 'Sita' called her 'Baba' was to perfect the serum formula and create a new generation of enhanced soldiers to transfer the technology across the border. Even Sita's life meant nothing to him if sacrificing it would complete the project.

This is where the emotional stakes of Alpha reach new heights. After learning the truth about the man she had called her father, 'Sita' joined forces with ‘Durga’ (Sharvari Wagh), who was later revealed to be her biological sister, and together they confronted 'Fateh' at the Alpha facility.
The climax features an intense, emotional fight between 'Sita' and 'Fateh', who have shared a father-daughter bond for years. Since 'Fateh' had personally trained 'Sita', he is aware of all the moves she can use to hit him, so he perfectly counterattacks her, making the battle extremely difficult. However, 'Durga' enters the fight to distract him, giving 'Sita' the upper hand. Together, 'Sita' and 'Durga' defeat 'Fateh Singh' and destroy his entire illegal training centre.
Bobby Deol's reveal as 'Major Zarrar Khan' changes the emotional core of Alpha. Instead of being just another action antagonist, he becomes the architect of Sita's stolen childhood.
