Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleThe Furious has been making headlines in India ever since its release in theatres on June 19, 2026. The film is being praised for featuring high-octane martial arts. Directed by Kenji Tanigaki, the film stars Xie Miao and Joe Taslim in key roles. The film is being lauded as an adrenaline-packed montage of wall-to-wall fights, a relentless father's quest to get his daughter back, and a finale that keeps you hooked until the credits roll. However, for viewers deciding whether to watch the film, here's everything you need to know about 'Wang Wei's' search for his beloved child. Warning: Spoilers ahead!
The Furious had its world premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival before its theatrical release on June 12, 2026. The film has now been released in India, and fans are loving the premise. The Furious follows 'Wang Wei' (Xie Miao), a mute tradesman living a quiet life in a Southeast Asian city. However, things take a turn when his daughter, 'Rainy', is kidnapped by a human trafficking syndicate. Helpless, 'Wei' goes to the police for help and gets nothing but indifference and corruption in return. Desperate to find his baby girl and with no other alternative, he takes matters into his own hands.

During his quest for his daughter, 'Wang Wei' meets a man named 'Navin', a journalist who has been digging into the same trafficking network because his own wife, 'Matia', vanished while investigating it. The two become unlikely partners, searching for the person they care deeply about. However, The Furious doesn't turn these men into heroes; rather, they drive them to desperation in their search for their loved ones. Eventually, clawing their way up the organisation's chain of command, fighting through hordes of henchmen, to reach the ringmaster.

By the time 'Wang Wei' and 'Navin' reach the top of the organisation, the film becomes a long, escalating war within the syndicate. Every object in the vicinity becomes a weapon. However, the film does not slow down to give reviewers a redemption arc; instead, it brutally defeats them, stripping the kidnappers of their humanity. Nonetheless, good news remains on the horizon for 'Wei' as he finds and rescues his daughter, 'Rainy'. For him, it's a clean, hard-won victory, exactly the kind of payoff the rest of the film has been building toward.

However, 'Navin's' ending is a complete contrast. On a far less triumphant note, he finally uncovers what happened to his wife, 'Matia', and the truth leaves the viewers sombre. 'Navin' soon learns that his wife is almost certainly dead, lost to the organisation long before he found his lead. The truth, while heartbreaking, is what he needed to be at peace, stop searching, and start moving forward.

While The Furious doesn't explore the possibility of the muted handyman having a hidden secret, fans are curious to know how an ordinary and almost pitiable man with no money and power had such refined combat skills. The film does drop some hints that there is much more to 'Wei' than the current story suggests. However, the film never confirms anything. There are no flashbacks or any concrete explanation, and his silence in the present is quite symbolic of the mystery of his past.

So far, there haven't been any announcements regarding the sequel. However, fans are eager to dive into 'Wei's' past and hence are hoping for another instalment that will answer the questions that remained unanswered in this one. While there is no confirmation, it is being alleged that producer, Bill Kong has indicated in interviews that conversations about a follow-up are already happening.
