'The Chosen' Season 6, Unfolding Of Jesus' Final Hours As Amazon MGM Sudios Confirms Release Date

The Chosen has turned out to be one of the most successful shows. It premiered back in 2017, and the initial network for airing was VidAngel. Notably, Amazon MGM Studios signed a deal with creator, Dallas Jenkins, in 2025, following which the fifth, sixth, and seventh seasons were confirmed to premiere on Amazon Prime Video. The Chosen Season 6 release date has been officially revealed

As per a press release from Amazon MGM Studios on April 3, 2026 (ET), The Chosen Season 6 will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on November 15, 2026. The first three episodes will arrive on November 15, 2026. This will be followed by the release of one episode each week, leading to the end of Season 6 on December 6, 2026. Compared to the previous seasons, The Chosen Season 6 will have six episodes. Notably, it used to have eight episodes since Season 1.

Moreover, the finale of Season 6 will be released separately in theatres. A release date of spring 2027 has already been locked for the same. The new season will mark the return of most of the cast members. Addressing the reasons for releasing the finale on the big screen after airing on Prime Video, Dallas Jenkins said in an interview:

“Everyone knows the basics of this part of the story, but not everyone knows the ‘why’ of the crucifixion and the extraordinary events of these 24 hours. We realised this not only deserved a season of television but a standalone full-length theatrical event as well. We wrote and filmed all of it with this in mind.”

The Chosen Season 6 will focus on the final days of Jesus

Apart from confirming the release date, the press release from Amazon MGM Studios also shared the official synopsis for The Chosen Season 6. The upcoming season will focus on the final days of Jesus from the point of view of the individuals who have loved and condemned Him. The show will address the perspectives of everyone, including the followers who believe that the crucifixion of Jesus was murder. The new season will reveal how the world changed during the final hours of Jesus.

Dallas Jenkins said at the ChosenCon in February 2026 that the sixth season will be bigger in terms of its scope. Dallas also described the last episode of Season 6 as a “super sized episode” and continued:

“Season 6 is the biggest season we’ve ever done without a close second, it’s taking the longest to film, by far. The visual effects, the translations, especially, take at least two to three times longer than any season we’ve ever done. The whole season is supersized. And so it just can take time. I just ask for your continued grace and patience. It will be worth it.”
