'The Boys' Season 5 Episode 7 Review, One Fatal Loss, One New Play From 'Homelander,' Before The End

The Boys Season 5 is heading towards its end. The satirical superhero series, which premiered in 2019, will conclude with its ongoing season. While the show is approaching its closure, a lot of things are happening in each episode. The body count has also increased, along with characters facing unexpected situations at the same time.

The protagonists are aiming to end the rule of 'Homelander,' which is not going to be an easy job. The final episode, arriving on May 20, 2026, will reveal if the group has succeeded. But the seventh episode, titled The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother’s Milk, is setting the stage for a perfect ending. Keep reading to know more! (Spoilers ahead)

'Homelander’s' unexpected move is going to surprise the viewers

Homelander

'Homelander' has been a part of The Boys since the first season. It has been a character that everyone has loved. But at the same time, everyone wants the good guys to take him down and finish him off as soon as possible. Episode 7 of Season 5 has a moment that is expected to receive mixed responses from everyone. 'Homelander' murders the 'President,' leading to the end of democracy. The intention is simple. 'Homelander' wants to become a God for everyone, and he is planning to announce the same.

'Soldier Boy' and 'The Deep' shine with some special moments

Soldier Boy

Viewers are somehow expected to connect with 'The Deep' in the latest episode of The Boys Season 5. 'Homelander' gives him the best wishes as he lets him go. But 'The Deep' is not welcome in the ocean anymore. He cannot go anywhere else now. The conclusion for the character in the upcoming episode is something that is undoubtedly going to get a lot of attention. 'Soldier Boy' also gets his moments as the new episode finally reveals that his bond with 'Homelander' was not why he gave the V1. It was instead because of his attraction to 'Stormfront.'

'Starlight' and 'Oh Father' take away the limelight with two different sequences

Starlight

Despite 'Oh Father' being an antagonist, the makers have managed to bring a new side of him in Episode 7 of The Boys Season 5. 'Oh Father' appears in an attractive musical number that is supposed to be a topic of discussion once the show ends. The setup for this entire sequence also looks good because a musical theater appears behind him, making it look a little funny. On the other hand, a few characters are working to discover the plans made by 'Oh Father' at Vought Studios. Apart from this, 'Starlight' appears in an important scene with MM, who opens up about his nickname.

'Butcher' and the other characters also appear busy for certain reasons

Butcher

While 'Homelander' manages to get his hands on the V1, 'Butcher' has made a different plan for 'Kimiko.' 'Butcher' thinks that the uranium can change 'Kimiko' into 'Soldier Boy,' and she will get the same powers. 'Frenchie' does not have a problem with the same. But the ongoing situation hints that they might be in trouble, and there is no clarity about it. 'Soldier Boy' also lets 'Homelander' know that he is leaving. 'Hughie' is trying to stay strong during a period where a lot of unexpected things are happening. On the other hand, 'Joe Kessler’s' return brings some funny moments in between the tension-filled atmosphere.

A lead character’s death is the most surprising element this time

Frenchie and Kimiko

As The Boys Season 5 is moving towards its end, it also ends the story of an important character, 'Frenchie.' The theme of sacrifice is perfectly used here, and it looks relevant, considering the bond that 'Frenchie' has shared with 'Kimiko' since the beginning. The same thing can be said for 'Kimiko' because she is ready to take a chance with the plan made by 'Butcher.' The death of 'Frenchie' while saving 'Kimiko' is also justified because this is now undoubtedly going to set up a brutal final battle in Episode 8.
