Well, for those who actually did, their dreams came true and we all got to see Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif together in real life. While both of them were quite open about their previous relationships, they chose to keep this one hidden from all. But, they could not manage to do it for long, and media was always talking about their relationship.

Interestingly, Ranbir and Katrina were introduced to each other by Deepika Padukone in 2008, whom he was dating at that time. It was Katrina’s birthday bash where Deepika took Ranbir along.
It was the same party where Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan had their infamous brawl. It was only in 2009, when the two met officially as they teamed up for their film, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. However, at that time, Katrina was dating Salman Khan and Ranbir was still dating Deepika.

After the release of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, their chemistry became the talk of the town. This also created trouble in Deepika-Ranbir paradise, and finally they broke up in 2010. Deepika said that she caught him cheating on her, and even Ranbir confirmed this in one of his interview:
“Yes, I've cheated, out of immaturity, out of inexperience, out of taking advantage of certain temptations, out of callousness. You realise it now, when you grow up and you value it more why be in a relationship, why be committed to someone when you cannot be committed.”
Soon after Ranbir’s break up with Deepika, the rumours of Salman and Katrina breaking up with each other also started doing the rounds. And, they finally parted ways without telling the reasons behind their break up. Well, any guesses anyone?

So, around the time the two had just broken up from their respective relationships, they worked together on the film, Raajneeti. If rumours are to be believed, this was the time when love started to blossom between the two. While they started making appearances together at various events, nothing was ever confirmed by them. It was the New Year’s Eve that the two spent together in New York in 2012, which turned everyone’s doubts into reality.
In one of her interviews, Katrina spoke about Ranbir, and said:
“Ranbir is like me, in the way that he is very loyal and emotional to the people he really cares about in his inner circle, which is very small. He can come out very detached to people outside of that. The only difference between his behaviour and my behaviour, let's say on a film set, is that while he is incredibly charming and polite with everyone that he comes in contact with, I don't think he yet realises what an important and amazing trait that is, I will get tired after saying a good morning to just three people.”

The two tried their best to avoid media and being clicked together. While the rumours were on rest for a moment, a picture of the two holidaying in Spain, clicked in their swimwear, took the Internet by storm.
The pictures confirmed their otherwise under-the-wrap relationship, and if this was not enough, the Ranbir-Kareena episode on Koffee With Karan, was the final bean spiller. Kareena Kapoor revealed the details of her cousin Ranbir’s relationship with Katrina, and her plans on dancing on their wedding.
Later that year, Katrina also said in an interview:
"Yes, of course! Ranbir is an extremely important part of my life, but beyond that, I can’t say anything more."

Ranbir and Katrina took their relationship to the next level as they reportedly moved in together in their new flat in suburban Mumbai. They also hosted a housewarming party for their close friends at their new place.
While the news still seemed to be more of a rumour, it was Ranbir’s father, Rishi Kapoor, who made it clear in one of his interviews, as he said:
“My father gave me space when I moved out after marriage and I give Ranbir his space too when he decided to move out and share a home with his girlfriend.”

The two have been spotted spending a lot of quality time with each other’s family with Ranbir visiting her family in London quite often, and Katrina being a regular visitor at his place. Initially, it was believed that thing were not so well between Katrina and Ranbir’s mother, Neetu Kapoor. And, what added fuel to the fire was when Neetu Kapoor cropped Katrina off a picture and posted it online.
When asked about Ranbir’s marriage plans, Neetu Kapoor said in one of her interviews:
“Aaj kal ke bachchon ka kuch pata nahi hota. When they get ready... when they gonna get married... what they want to do. They are absolutely on their own trip, so I don't know.”
However, all the speculations regarding troubles between the two ladies ended soon as Katrina was spotted joining the family at various occasions quite frequently.

And, the recent buzz doing the rounds is Ranbir’s recent announcement about his wedding plans with Katrina. As per various reports, Ranbir gave an interview to Anandabazar Patrika, in which he said:
“This year both of us are extremely busy, so there won't be any time for the marriage. We have planned to tie the knot by the end of next year. Both of us have agreed on that.”
The actor further mentioned:
“Both of us are sure about our relationship and if we don't open up about it now, it would be showing disrespect to the relationship. I am 33 now and it is time I have my family. Even Katrina wants that. I have grown up in a family where film is everything. So, I know the importance of gossip and my funda is simple. When there is gossip, try not to react and it is advisable not to think too much about yourself.”

Well, the news of their wedding plans just got their fans highly excited. But, just a few days after that, Ranbir dismissed all those reports as he told the reporters during the promotion of his upcoming movie, Bombay Velvet:
"Yes, I am in love but I have not made any marriage plans yet. There are so many rumours surrounding my marriage like sometime people have quoted me that I am getting married next year. But there are no plans as such."
Moreover, Katrina also stated that there were no plans of wedding in the next year.
