Taylor Parker recently became a topic of discussion after the premiere of the Netflix documentary, Maternal Instinct, on June 12, 2026. She murdered her friend, Reagan Simmons-Hancock, at her house in 2020 and cut open her stomach with a scalpel to acquire the unborn fetus. While Taylor claimed on her way to the hospital that the baby was born to her, the doctors found the truth, and she was eventually arrested, leading to her life sentence in 2022.
While the 2020 case came into the headlines once again, netizens have been curious to know more about Taylor’s family and her personal life. Notably, she was a mother of two more kids before she committed the crime. Keep reading to know more about her family’s whereabouts today!

The new Netflix documentary featured Taylor Parker’s former friends and all those who knew her in some way. However, her parents, Shona Prior and Mark Morton, were absent. While their current whereabouts remain unknown, Shona appeared at her daughter’s trial in 2022. She referred to Taylor’s fake pregnancy by saying that everyone knew the truth and that it would come out in some manner in the future.

Notably, Shona was also present when Taylor had a hysterectomy. Shona was also the one who approved the process, and she even spoke to Taylor’s ex-boyfriend, Wade Griffin’s mother, Connie, who asked her once if her daughter could have a child. Shona told Connie that it was not possible. Furthermore, Shona and Taylor did not speak to each other after approving the hysterectomy since Taylor knew that she could not become a grandmother again.

Apart from that, Shona had no idea that her daughter was making fake pregnancy claims until she received a message from a friend in 2019. It had a screenshot from a Facebook post that was related to the gender reveal party. Shona told the court that Taylor had removed her from Facebook at that time, specifically when she got romantically linked to Wade Griffin. Shona alleged that Taylor was a completely different person during that period.

Although Taylor Parker did not invite her mother, Shona Prior, to the gender reveal party, her father, Mark Morton, attended the same. Shona claimed at the trial in 2022 that Mark also knew the truth that Taylor could not have a child, and despite being well aware of what was going on, he decided to attend the party.

Taylor’s family included a brother named Zachary Morton. He recalled the time he visited Taylor’s house during his childhood. However, Zachary testified that his sister was not present inside the house. Zachary also alleged that his father used both his children as “pawns” while getting divorced from their mother. Zachary even claimed that his father never prioritised his children and continued:
“When dad was chasing other women or drugs, we were put on the back burner. It seemed like when Taylor was chasing another man, instead of the focus being on her children, it was on herself. It was all about her at one specific time.”
Legal documents related to Taylor Parker’s case have opened up a lot of details about her past, including her personal life. Parker has been a mother of two children, Emersyn and Trey, who were born from two of her past relationships. Apart from that, she was married twice to Hunter Parker and Tommy Wacasey. Emersyn was born when Taylor was romantically linked to a man named Donald Whiteside. Emersyn is reportedly 16 years old today, and she spent most of her time with her grandmother, Shona Prior, after she received her custody.

Taylor reportedly welcomed Trey somewhere between 2013 and 2014. He was born when Taylor was married to Tommy Wacasey. Taylor had a complication called preeclampsia during her second pregnancy, following which she opted to undergo a tubal ligation to stop getting pregnant in the future. This is the same period when she had a hysterectomy, and a few of Taylor’s organs were removed, including the uterus, cervix, and ovaries. While Shona approved the hysterectomy, the decision was first taken by Tommy when Taylor was under anesthesia.

Trey was born to Taylor Parker when she was 21 years old. While Wacasey managed to get the custody of Trey, Taylor allegedly did not pay any child support to him. Zachary also alleged in his testimony that his sister changed after a weight loss surgery, as she stopped prioritising her family. After Taylor and Tommy’s divorce in 2017, the former got romantically linked to Hunter Parker, and they exchanged vows in 2018. Before their divorce in 2019, Taylor allegedly wanted to have more children and even approached some of her friends to be surrogates. However, the plan did not work.
