Days before the highly anticipated premiere of Taylor Frankie Paul's starrer The Bachelorette Season 22, ABC suddenly scrapped it. The major decision has left the show's fans in shock. But the decision comes after an old video of the reality TV star resurfaced, in which she was seen engaging in a physical altercation with her ex, Dakota Mortensen, prompting the network to snub the show before its release. Although the unexpected cancellation decision has grabbed attention, Taylor's social media activity has sparked a new conversation online.
Shortly after the news of Taylor Frankie Paul's starrer, The Bachelorette Season 22, being cancelled went viral, she took to her Instagram handle with a now-deleted story that caught netizens' attention. According to Parade, she reposted a reel referencing Nick Viall, who had claimed that he played a significant role in suggesting her casting as the lead The Bachelorette for Season 22. Adding more curiosity, Taylor captioned the repost writing:
"Nick is my hype guy."

Although the comment appears to be praise, its timing has led netizens to interpret if it was sarcastic comment. Meanwhile, the post did not directly address the cancellation decision but hinted at the underlying tensions and industry conversations happening behind the scenes. Before it was deleted, several media and fan pages noted the same. For those unaware, Nick Viall has appeared multiple times on ABC's Bachelor Nation. He featured in The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, and The Bachelor season 21. Nick now hosts the popular relationship podcast, The Viall Files.

The whole Taylor Frankie Paul controversy stemmed from an old 2023 video featuring her and her ex, Dakota Mortensen. It clearly showed the former couple engaging in a physical altercation, which raised serious concerns, especially due to the presence of a child in the same environment. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star addressed the video on CHEERS! with Avery podcast and admitted she was a different person in the past who was responsible for the aggressive fight. In her words:
"We had a babysitter, I came home, and she (her daughter) was on the couch. I was throwing stuff. I threw a chair, like towards him, and so I was charged with child abuse because it could have hurt her. I was throwing everything. I was so angry. I mean, as we all know, I was trying to attack him, and I assaulted him. I took it all out on him. There was enough evidence there that I was the aggressor. And I was. So they took me to jail."

After the re-emergence of Taylor Frankie Paul's old video, ABC announced that they were cancelling The Bachelorette at this time to prioritise those affected by it. Still, their choice of words left room for fans to interpret the decision as temporary. In turn, Taylor expresses her gratitude to the network and states that she is focused on her and her family's well-being first. Recalling how she has dealt with personal struggles for several years now, her team stated:
