Amid that, a newly released clip shows Dakota sharing details of the fateful night, including the fact that Taylor had hurt her daughter with a barstool.

During a heated argument between Taylor Frankie Paul and her then-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen in February 2023, she threw three metal barstools at him. The leaked footage also showed her kicking Dakota and putting him in a headlock. At that time, her 5-year-old daughter, Indy May Paul was present in the room. One of the thrown chairs reportedly struck the child in the head, causing a "goose egg" injury. In the resurfaced footage, first reported by TMZ, Dakota could be heard saying, "Your daughter just got hit in the head by a metal chair."

Taylor Frankie Paul shared in March 2026 that her young daughter is having to "relive" the traumatic chair-throwing incident all over again due to the resurfaced controversy. She took to the comment section of a TikTok explainer video regarding the February 2023 incident, and wrote the poignant statement. Taylor stated that the circulation of the footage has been very difficult for her daughter, especially after they had done "extensive work" and she had offered many apologies to the little one regarding that night. The comment could be read as:

"Worst part is my daughter having to relive and see it all over again years later after extensive work with her and apologies to her about that night and my baby boy birthday was taken from him."

Dakota Mortensen begged to be arrested in place of Taylor Frankie Paul following the heated encounter

Following Taylor's frenzied chair-throwing, the Draper City Police Department officials arrived to arrest her. She faced multiple charges, including felony aggravated assault, domestic violence in the presence of a child, and misdemeanour child abuse. In newly released bodycam footage, shared by TMZ on March 24, 2026, Dakota Mortensen is seen pleading with the police to take him to jail instead of her. He repeatedly asked, "Why can't it be me?" who gets arrested. Refusing his emotional plea, the officials explained that Taylor had been determined as the "primary aggressor" and that the arrest was a necessary "wake-up call" for her.

The new video also shows an intoxicated and emotional Taylor Frankie Paul sobbing and stumbling through the house. She admitted to police that she "went ballistic" and threw objects, including metal chairs. She previously described that night as a "rock bottom" moment, admitting she was "so gone" during the fight that she didn't realise her daughter was present until it was pointed out. Taylor was originally charged with felony aggravated assault, domestic violence in the presence of a child, child abuse, and criminal mischief.

However, in August 2023, Taylor Frankie Paul entered a plea in abeyance for the aggravated assault charge, while the other charges were dismissed. This agreement placed her on probation until August 2026. The release of Dakota Mortensen's request video and other related clips in March 2026 led ABC to cancel Taylor's upcoming season of The Bachelorette just days before its scheduled premiere. Additionally, the filming for Season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was also halted for an indefinite period in the wake of the controversy.
