Tate McRae and The Kid Laroi started trending in January 2024 when they appeared together in Santa Monica, California, for dinner. The duo was spotted in casual outfits. A few days before they went out, Tate had shared a photo on her Instagram handle, where she was wearing a shirt. According to People magazine, netizens reportedly claimed that the shirt resembled the one that they saw The Kid Laroi wearing.

Tate McRae and The Kid Laroi were seen at the NHL All-Star Game in Toronto in February 2024, where they were holding hands. The same month, the pair attended the Fanatics Super Bowl LVIII party, where they posed for a picture with Justin Bieber and his wife, Hailey Bieber. In March 2024, Tate and The Kid Laroi were spotted going out for dinner at a restaurant in Beverly Hills.

Tate McRae celebrated her 21st birthday on July 1, 2024. Notably, The Kid Laroi made his relationship with Tate official on the same day as he posted a picture on his Instagram Story. The Kid Laroi wrote that Tate made him better, and he loves her. Before the relationship became official, The Kid Laroi was performing in Dublin in April 2024. While he was on stage, the rapper told everyone to sing because his girlfriend was also watching him. Tate McRae was later seen watching the show backstage.

The Kid Laroi clarified that everything is fine between him and Tate McRae

While Tate McRae and The Kid Laroi did not stop making public appearances, reports of their separation emerged a year after their relationship became official in July 2025. A social media user alleged on X at that time that The Kid Laroi was shading Tate McRae. The Kid Laroi responded by posting a screenshot of a conversation with his team members, saying that he has nothing to do with the claims being made. The singer also clarified that he and Tate were on good terms.

A few months after The Kid Laroi’s post went viral, Tate McRae revealed the breakup while speaking to Rolling Stone in December 2025. Tate said during the interview that she and The Kid Laroi separated in June 2025. Tate released a single, Tit For Tat, in September 2025, where the lyrics seemingly referred to The Kid Laroi. Tate responded to the speculation by saying that she and The Kid Laroi can express themselves only by writing songs, adding that it is their job and art at the same time.
